Students on the Rise


Marcy Francoeur of Danville has been named as one of the Captains for the Husson University Women's soccer team in Bangor Maine. Marcy is a graduate of Timberlane Regional High School and played for Seacoast United Soccer Club of Epping on several state and regional championship teams.

Two area St. Thomas Aquinas High School juniors were named National Merit Scholarship qualifiers as a result of their PSAT scores: Andrew DaRosa of Kingston, and Eric Ouellette of Epping. Only the students whose scores rank in the top 5% in the nation are considered for the Scholarship selection.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the country's longest-running and most prestigious award and recognition program for creative teenagers, announced its 2013 National Award recipients. The Scholastic Art Awards of NH had thirteen students awarded national medals from a panel of distinguished judges. Local students honored include: John Ayer - grade 12, Epping High School - Sarah Kiley, art educator - Painting - Beach Mountain - American Visions Award for New Hampshire; Colby Fream - grade 10, Exeter High School - Jennifer Vigneau, art educator - Mixed Media - Between The Open Mind - Silver Medal Award.

  •  Successful Conservation Collaboration

    On June 17, the sophomore class of Sanborn Regional High School made a field trip to the Old Frye Town Forest, one of Kingston's five town forests, to assist the Kingston Conservation Commission in the removal of invasive plants from the area near the trailhead, notably, an extensive and aggressive patch of Japanese knotweed. This project was the culmination of the school's third year of intra-curricular collaboration with the Commission to address local environmental issues, and to make conservation an area of study and research. Congratulations from the Commission to the teachers and students for a job well done!

  • Volunteer of the Year

    Atkinson Academy Elementary School has named its Volunteer of the Year for 2014. Timberlane Regional High School graduate Ashley Higham, right, received the award from teacher Meredith Bastien, pictured left. Ashley volunteered her services three days a week for two hours in 5-K Intensive Needs classes during the school year.
