Students Aid Typhoon Relief

---- — EPPING - On March 27, groups of Epping Middle and High Schools’ faculty, staff, students, and community volunteers sponsored a charity basketball game to raise money for All Hands Volunteers with the proceeds going to the Typhoon Haiyan relief effort in the Phillipines. The student team defeated the staff team in overtime. The game was organized by social studies teachers Katie Van Nostrand and Tyler Nekton.

Faculty/Staff team members were: Fred Bowden, Ben Bourgoin, Katie Van Nostrand, Tyler Nekton, Nick DeGruttola, Gabe Mosca, Joy Page, and parent Everett Brown.

The student team included middle schoolers: Nathan Webber, Bobby Edwards, Casey Needham, Ben Colban, Addison Bickford, Mercedes Nash, Hunter Bullock, Shawn Hill, Emily Jackson, Meghan Galante, Luke Marchisio, Nathaniel Marshall, Megan Marasca, Adam LePage, and Becky Milbury; and high schoolers: Aziz Zerguine, Jimmy Stanley, Thomas Bullock, Ryan O’Hare, and Brittney Bullock.

Faculty/Staff members Don Bouchard, Susan McGeough, Candace Smith, Juliana Flintosh, Marisa Minichiello, Thelma Thompson, Deanna LaPlante, and Stephanie Arsenault volunteered at the event. Student volunteers included: Anna Re, Gracia Jordan, Kiana Pond, Alexis McDuffee, Rachel Martin, Amar Sappal, Abby Simard, MacKenzie Newman, and Maya Martin.

Tom O’Day (referee) and Jen Little (scorekeeper) were among the community volunteers. Gina Bregani was on hand to represent the All Hands Volunteers.

While admission was free, donations were accepted at the door. These, along with concessions sales netted $686 to be donated to the relief effort.
