Night at the Museum

NEWTON — On the evening of Thurs., April 18, the Sanborn Middle School halls will be transformed into a museum of the arts and sciences. Mrs. Bilodeau, Mrs. Getchell and Mrs. Misenheimer are responsible for this teacher initiative program that blends the disciplines of drama, visual art, science and history.

Students and teachers have collaborated to present “American Ingenuity...Sanborn Regional Middle School Hall of Wonders....A Night at the Museum”. Visitors to the museum will be able to meet student actors playing the rolls of a variety of noteworthy American artists. At the same time, examples of the artists' works will be displayed, along with artwork reproductions created by middle school students. In addition, a Science Annex will be open, with examples of how science influenced the art of the periods. There will also be a Gift Shop with a number of museum gifts available for purchase.

The Museum will be open from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The community is welcome!

  • Successful Conservation Collaboration

On June 17, the sophomore class of Sanborn Regional High School made a field trip to the Old Frye Town Forest, one of Kingston's five town forests, to assist the Kingston Conservation Commission in the removal of invasive plants from the area near the trailhead, notably, an extensive and aggressive patch of Japanese knotweed. This project was the culmination of the school's third year of intra-curricular collaboration with the Commission to address local environmental issues, and to make conservation an area of study and research. Congratulations from the Commission to the teachers and students for a job well done!
