HAVERHILL, MA - Anyone who would like to experience the benefits of studying abroad but doesn’t have time to commit to a full college semester should check out the short-term study abroad experiences available at Northern Essex Community College this spring.
Northern Essex is offering two international courses: “Introduction to Archaeology: a Site Exploration of Ancient Turkey” and “Field Studies in Natural Systems: the Bio-geology of Belize.” Classes will meet during four Saturday sessions on the college’s Haverhill Campus and also take an 11-day trip to Turkey or Belize.
Both courses are currently open and students are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Those who qualify can have the cost of the trip covered by financial aid.
In addition to traditional semester and year-long study abroad programs, NECC offers short-term international course options, giving working students the opportunity to experience studying abroad.
Students in the credit courses meet two to three times before the trip and then after they return.
