Epping School Board News

EPPING - Welcome to the Epping School Board News Corner for the November 15th School Board Meeting. The meeting agenda was designed to accommodate a budget work session immediately following the regular meeting.

Administrative Reports – Principal Vallone reported that EES honored veterans with lunch and an assembly. EES students were selected for the National Honor Society. The school is conducting a food drive for families in need. Teachers continue to work on the implementation of Math in Focus. Grade level teacher teams are also reviewing assessment data and planning mini-lessons to address student learning needs. Principal Repucci shared that the schools participated in Red Ribbon Week by forming a giant red ribbon for a National Guard Blackhawk fly over. The event was featured in an article and the school was presented with a plaque. Data was presented on the high school’s new grading system which encourages reassessments. Overall students successfully improved their grades. The new competency-based report card was also used for the first time resulting in positive feedback. The Principal reported that some parents had questions and encouraged other parents to contact him with their questions. Per the Title VI grant the School Board approved the purchase of mini iPads to assist with EMS math remediation.

Financial – It was reported that the District is not forecasted to have an expenditure surplus at the end of this school year. Special education program needs have increased.

Next Meeting –The next regular meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm on December 6th in the Epping Town Hall. All meetings are open to the public.

Learned Gosselin, 87, recently of Exeter, N.H. and formerly of Kingston, N.H., Amesbury and Salisbury, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Genesis Healthcare Exeter Center, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. She was the beloved wife of the late Mr. Shirl W. Learned and the late Raymond E. Gosselin.
