---- — STRATHAM – The Stratham Historical Society is pleased to offer “The Winfield L. Foote Award for Academic Excellence” to three levels of students based on academic excellence in history/social sciences and/or agriculture. Two or more $1,000 scholarships will be available to high school seniors who are planning to attend an accredited college or university in the Fall. SAU16 students and Stratham residents attending other local high schools are eligible to apply. Completed applications for this level must be received by mail by the Stratham Historical Society, P.O. Box 39, Stratham, NH 03885, on or before April 1, 2014. The awards are to be given during Awards Night at the recipient’s high school. The awards shall be paid to the college/university the recipient will be attending.

In addition, one or more scholarships are offered to rising juniors and seniors attending accredited four-year colleges and universities. Applicants must be legal residents of Stratham, Brentwood, East Kingston, Exeter, Kensington, or Newfields. Selections will be made according to demonstrated academic excellence and extra curricular accomplishments. These scholarship awards are expected to be a minimum of $2500, depending on the amount available from the Winfield L. Foote Fund. Due date for applications is February 15. Awards will be announced on or about May 1.

An award for graduate students is offered for thesis or dissertation support. Proposals related to history, sociology, or anthropology, are encouraged. Other fields or disciplines will be considered. Due date for application is March 1. Awards announced on or about May 1.

Only applications, which have strictly adhered to the guidelines/procedure for application, shall be considered.
