Spirits Lifted by St. Jude Council

The Saint Jude Council #6617 of the Knights of Columbus in Plaistow, have again helped schools and other organizations to benefit the mentally and physically challenged, while earning thanks for their dedication. The annual 2013 Tootsie Roll Drive raised $8,100 ,with credit given to residents who found a way to give from the heart in these very difficult economic times. Garden Club Awards Gorham Grant

The Hampstead Garden Club has awarded its $250 Gorham Grant to the Hampstead Middle School National Junior Honor Society. The Honor Society will use the grant to fund a courtyard beautification project, including the purchase of gardening tools and perennial plants for empty and neglected areas of the existing courtyard gardens and their ongoing care. The project will provide a wonderful educational service opportunity for the students, introducing them to the joys of gardening and giving back to the community. Participants include, from left, Sarah Arsenault and Danielle Lawson, Hampstead Middle School teachers/co-sponsors, Eileen Valliere and Cheryl Poussard, Garden Club co-presidents, national honor society officers Kathryn Leighton, co-secretary, Emilie Brown, president, Molly Remillard, co-secretary, and Sheila Gorham-Wentworth, honorary member and past president. The Garden Club’s Gorham Grant was established in honor of the late Michael Gorham, a Hampstead resident who believed in the education of the town’s youth and appreciation and stewardship of community resources. Hundreds Attend Game Dinner

The Raymond Baptist Church, 145 Main Street in Raymond, hosted its 4th annual Wild Game Dinner, with hundreds of families packing the church hall for this popular event. Did you get to try the venison, moose, pheasant, wild boar, duck, squirrel, or striped bass? Beverages and side dishes accompanied “the game” as well as prizes for adults and children. Poster Contest Winners

The Atkinson Garden Club (AGC)  is pleased to recognize the following student students from the Atkinson Academy, who participated in the National Garden Club, Inc.’s Smokey Bear/Woodsy Owl Poster Contest for 2014. The first place posters from these students were forwarded to the NH Federation of Garden Clubs for further judging.
