STRATHAM – On Mon., November 9, at 7:00 p.m., the Stratham Historical Society and the Wiggin Memorial Library will co-host a presentation by John Katsaros, New England author of Code Burgundy: The Long Escape.
He shares his story of being shot down over Germany in March of 1944 as a 20 year-old U.S. Army Air Force Sergeant and his experiences as a POW as well as his eventual escape to freedom. He survived the ordeal by parachuting into enemy territory and was captured, but eventually escaped into neutral Spain after numerous trials and tribulations. Sworn to secrecy by the government for all these years, Katsaros was finally allowed to reveal his story.
The program will be held at the Community Room of the Stratham Fire Station at the corner of Portsmouth Avenue and Winnicutt Road. A business meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. before the presentation.
The program is free and open to the public. There is ample parking available. Light refreshments will be served.
