Fly-Fishing For Kids

EXETER – The Exeter River Local Advisory Committee (ERLAC) and the Great Bay Chapter of Trout Unlimited are offering a fly-fishing workshop for children 10-15 years of age on Sat., October 24 in Exeter. The workshop is free and will take place along the Exeter River at Pickpocket Dam, on Pickpocket Road in Exeter. There will be two sessions. The first session begins at 10:00 a.m. until noon and the second session begins at 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. There is a limit of ten children in each session, so register early! Parents are required to stay on-site during the workshop. Staff from Trout Unlimited, NH Fish and Game and the NH Department of Environmental Services will be on hand to teach participants how to tie fishing flies and to provide information about water quality and fish habitat in the Exeter River.
