Emma Ruth Braun
BEDFORD, PA – Emma Ruth Braun, 81, of Preston St., Bedford, died Thurs., November 26, 2009, at Colonial Courtyard in Bedford. She was born August 7, 1928 in Bedford, daughter of the late John W. and Lillie V. (Sherman) Cessna.
On August 27, 1955 in Boston, MA, she married Robert B. Braun, and he preceded her in death on April 28, 2002. She is survived by two sisters: Mary E., wife of Paul Deasey of Everett, and Joan V., wife of Ronald Conner of Queen; two brothers, Cecil P. Cessna and wife Janet of Chambersburg, and Rev. Lowell Cessna and wife Carolyn of Midland, TX; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and several great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Luther, James and infant John Cessna.
Mrs. Braun was a 1949 graduate of Bedford High School. She retired after 40 years as an administrative assistant for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston. She was a loving wife, sister, aunt, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew her.
Funeral Services were held on December 1, at Yeager Memorial Lutheran Church in Rainsburg, with Rev. Jenny Barnes officiating. Burial was at the Woods Church Cemetery. An on line guest book is available at www.berkebilefuneralhome.com.
Alice G. Gott
CHESTER – Alice G. Gott, 87, of Chester, died Fri., November 27, in her home. Mrs. Gott was born in Manchester, on September 3, 1922, a daughter of the late Scott and Geneva (Russell) Wheeler. She attended the Senior Citizens in Chester.
She is survived by one son, Ken Gott of Goffstown; one daughter, Nancy Baldwin of Ocala, FL; six grandchildren, Michelle Baldwin of OH, Anthony Baldwin of CT, William Baldwin of NH, Arlene Gage of Goffstown, and Kenneth Gott and Steven Gott, both of Manchester; seventeen great grandchildren; two sisters, Anna Stewart of San Diego, CA, and Lucy Wilson of Huntington Beach, CA; one brother, Armen Vargabedian of Goffstown; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leonard Gott, and a granddaughter, Melissa Robinson.
A Memorial Service was held on December 3rd at the Candia Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01710.
Harold P. Mierop
ATKINSON – Harold P. Mierop, 72, died November 27, 2009, following a period of declining health. He was born in Camden, NJ. He was a resident of Atkinson, since 1977. He was the son of Dr. William A. and Marion (Coxan) Mierop.
Harold graduated from the Stony Brook School in New York in 1954. He attended Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois. He served as an aircraft radar repairman in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1959. Harold was an avid amateur radio operator, call sign N1HM, an Extra class license. He was also an FAA licensed pilot. While working for RCA, he was directly involved in the construction of one of the first communication satellites, as well as the early research and development of lasers and the VHS VCRs we’ve all used. Harold was an emergency medical technician, and served as a crew chief for the Hillsborough, NJ, Rescue Squad in the mid 1970s.
Harold is survived by his children, Stephen, Harold “Paul,” Jr. and Daniel; four grandchildren, Harold Paul, III, Wendy, Timothy and Heidi; brother, Rev. William A. Mierop; and his former wife, Patricia Mierop.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Carol Polk; his parents; and sister, Marion Buchanan.
The family wants to thank all of Harold’s friends who have helped him have a very enjoyable life.
A memorial service was held on December 6 at the Danville Baptist Church, Main Street, Route 111A, Danville.
Herbert Henry Tanner
EAST HAMPSTEAD – Herbert Henry Tanner, 69, died peacefully Tues., December 1, 2009.
He was born in Salem, MA, January 14, 1940, son to Herbert and Mildred Tanner (both deceased.) of Rowley, MA. He graduated from Newburyport High School in 1959. A Proud US Navy Seabee (Can Do!), he joined the service in 1957, served during the Cuban missile crisis and the Vietnam conflict, honorably discharged in 1985 from MIUW-201 in Lawrence, MA. He traveled all over the world including Greece, Iceland, and Antarctica.
He remained active with the Seabees, joining the Navy Seabee Veterans of America, serving as the Commander of New Hampshire Seacoast Island X-1, and many other local veteran associations.
He was a member of Teamsters Union for over 25 years, driving for Transgas out of Lowell, MA, until he retired in 2000.
Herb spent many days traveling since he retired with his wife, going as far as Alaska in their 5th wheel camper. A Good Sam’s member, they spend many weeks around New England at Samborees, socializing with others.
Herb leaves behind his wife of 42 years Jean (Greenleaf) Tanner, son Allen Tanner of East Hampstead, and daughters Tracey (Tanner) Holzapfel of Merrimack, and Carolyn (Tanner) Latham of Haverhill, MA. Herb also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Elizabeth Tanner, Amelia Holzapfel, and Luke Holzapfel, along with sisters, nieces and nephews, and many great friends.
Services are Wed., December 9, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., at Mill Road Baptist Church, Kingston. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Seabee Museum and Memorial Park. 21 Iafrate Way, N Kingstown, RI 02852, a place where he helped build the chapel and the “bee”.

Myron W. Cate
RAYMOND — Myron W. Cate, 79, of Hay Springs, Nebraska died peacefully at home on August 20, 2010. Myron was born on February 23, 1931 in Manchester. He was a resident of Raymond, until he joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He proudly served his country in both the Navy and then the Air Force during the Korean War. Myron's patriotism and strong love of American Freedom was seen as he was known to even carry a copy of the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution in his pocket.
