Virgil E. Harris
EXETER – Virgil E. Harris, 85, of Exeter died Fri., November 6, 2009, at his home. He was born July 15, 1924 in Garden Grove, CA the son of the late Farris and Julia A. (Tripp) Harris.
Mr. Harris was raised in California and lived there until entering the Navy. He served 20 years and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He moved to Exeter in 1963 where he worked for Phillips Exeter Academy, drove trucks across country, and worked for the Town of Exeter at the Water Treatment Plant .
He and his wife, Barbara enjoyed traveling, square dancing and round dancing. He was a member of the Exeter United Methodist Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Family members include his wife of 56 years, Barbara A. (Marcotte) Harris, of Exeter; three sons, Randy S. Harris and his wife, Deborah of Chichester, Ron G. Harris and Rick A. Harris, both of Exeter; three grandchildren, Bradley, Karen, and Laura; two great grandchildren, Gavin and Gabriel; and a sister, Rachel Balch of Alaska. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services were held on November 14, at the Exeter United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Exeter United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.
Terry L. Jackman
KINGSTON – Terry L. Jackman, 60, of Kingston, died Fri., November 6, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 27, 1948, in Newburyport, MA. Terry attended Newburyport school systems and graduated from Newburyport High School.
Terry served in the Army during the US conflict with Vietnam from 1968-1970. He was an advocate for the protection of wildlife and enjoying sharing his love of nature with everyone he came in contact with. Terry worked for Bailey Company in Seabrook and was also a fine woodworker from board to finished product.
Terry is survived by his wife, Susan (Pond) Jackman, and their children, Lon Jackman of Manchester, Shellie Jackman of Kingston, best friend and grandson Jory Jackman of Kingston and his sister, Judy Woodard of Seabrook.
He is predeceased by his parents, Russell and Betty Jackman, and his sister Debra Knowles Jackman.
A Memorial Service in his honor will be held on Sat., November 21, from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the VFW Hall, Route 125 in Kingston. Family and friends are welcome to come and reminisce.
Walter M. Zukofski
EXETER – Walter M. Zukofski, 43, of Exeter, died Sat., November 7, 2009, at the Exeter Hospital, after being stricken at his home.
Born in Lawrence, MA, son of Walter J. Zukofski and the late Linda (Skea) Zukofski, he attended schools in Haverhill, MA, graduating from Whittier Vocational Technical High School with the Class of 1985.
Mr. Zukofski was a self-employed carpenter who worked for local contractors including Channel Building and Progressive Roofing. He enjoyed playing pool, darts, camping and fishing.
Survivors include his father, Walter J. Zukofski of Raymond; his wife, Kathleen “Katie” Smith of Exeter; a son, Steven M. Zukofski of Haverhill, MA; two stepdaughters, Cassie M. Sancartier and Kelsey M. Sancartier, both of Exeter; a brother and sister-in-law, Michael C. and Kelly Zukofski of Haverhill; a sister and brother-in-law, Kerry A. and Thomas Brannan of Raymond; and a sister, Kathy M. Zukofski and her fiancé, David D’Orazio of Haverhill, MA; his maternal grandmother, Kathleen Skea of Lawrence, MA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements were by Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, Haverhill, MA.

Myron W. Cate
RAYMOND — Myron W. Cate, 79, of Hay Springs, Nebraska died peacefully at home on August 20, 2010. Myron was born on February 23, 1931 in Manchester. He was a resident of Raymond, until he joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He proudly served his country in both the Navy and then the Air Force during the Korean War. Myron's patriotism and strong love of American Freedom was seen as he was known to even carry a copy of the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution in his pocket.
