Helen A. Johnson, 55

Kingston, NH — Helen Ann Johnson, 55, died unexpectedly on June 18, 2013, at her home in Kingston, N.H.

She was born May 19, 1958 in Ipswich, Mass., daughter of the late Warren and Sally (Churchill) Hatt.

Helen was a graduate of Timberlane High School in Plaistow, N.H., Class of 1976. On April 30, 1977, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard A. Johnson. They have resided in Kingston, N.H. for the past 35 years. Helen was formerly employed as a bartender at the Kingston Veterans Club, then as a cafeteria worker in food service at Sanborn High School, and currently was the owner and co-operator of the Redneck Hot Dogs & BBQ stand in Kingston.

She was a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star Corinthian-Queen Esther #23 Kingston Chapter. In her free time, she enjoyed in her younger years riding with Richard on his motorcycle, later in life gardening, and was always an avid animal lover.

Helen was known for her outgoing engaging personality at the hot dog stand and she will be sincerely missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Johnson of Kingston; her son, Matthew Johnson of East Hampstead, N.H.; her daughter, Michelle Freda of North Carolina; 2 grandchildren, Paisley Freda and Cali Freda; 3 sisters, Darlene Antos of South Carolina, Cindy Emerson of Andover, Maine, and Elizabeth Hatt of Keene, N.H.; a brother, Steven Hatt of Georgia; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

ARRANGEMENTS: Memorial visitation was held on Saturday, June 22, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 14 Pine St., Exeter, N.H.

Memorial services followed on Saturday, June 22, 2013, at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers, Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps and sisters, Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
