James R. Lane
KINGSTON – James R. Lane, 65, died unexpectedly in Boston on December 24, 2009.
Born in Gloucester, MA, on August 18, 1944, he was the son of Carmella “Peg” Lane Rich of Magnolia, MA, and the late James O. Lane. He was a graduate of the Gloucester High School class of 1964.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served from 1964 to 1968, and at one point was stationed at Ramstein A.F.B. in Germany. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant.
He had worked for many years at the former B.F. Goodrich. He later became a contractor, having built homes primarily in Southern New Hampshire. Most recently, he was employed as an excavator with Feeney Brothers Excavation.
Jim had many loves in his life, including his home, the Jagged Diamond Ranch, his motorcycle, horses and dogs and spending time on the ocean. He was a generous person, who spent all his spare time helping others.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his daughter, Lisa J. Lane of Salem, his son and daughter-in-law, Jody and Tricia Lane of Merrimac, MA, two grandchildren, Travis James Lane and Caitlyn Ruby Lane, his brothers, George, husband of Marie Lane of FL, Harry, husband of Esther of ME, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his fiancée, Geraldine Orlando, his twin sisters, Margaret “Sis” Lane and Eleanor Lane, and brothers, James, Philip, Artie, Howie and Herman Lane.
His funeral service was held on December 31, 2009, in the Beechbrook Cemetery, Gloucester, MA. Robert “Bob” Pistorio
WINDHAM – Robert “Bob” Pistorio, 66, of Windham, passed away peacefully at Lawrence General Hospital on January 6, 2010 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, Bob was the son of the late Nunzio and Angelina (Ventura) Pistorio. For 18 years, Bob worked as a manager for Baker and Baker (formerly Karp’s Distribution Center) of Georgetown, MA, from which he retired. A man of uncommon humanity, Bob had a zest for living that revealed itself in his love of family and friends. He loved to travel (Jamaica was his favorite destination), loved to cook and ate with true gusto! He took great pleasure in organizing and hosting parties from ice cream socials to Halloween events. His positive attitude and spirit of life was contagious as he took each day to love others and live life to its fullest. His influence on family and friends will live on in their hearts forever. He is survived by his bride of eleven and a half years, Sheila Pistorio of Windham, daughter April of Windham, a niece, Danielle Conrad (who he viewed as a daughter) and five sons, Nickolas of Windham, Stephen Rousseau and wife Lisa of Hill, Christopher Pistorio and wife Veronica of Texas, Michael Pistorio and wife Lisa of Maryland, and Stephen Pistorio and his daughter of Lawrence of MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Lauren and Nicholas Rousseau, Michael and Nicole Pistorio, and his brother-in-law, Alfred Centola, his nephew Mark Centola, nieces Christine Gordon and her husband Charles, Valerie Quigley and her husband Neil, Cynthia Rogers and her husband Gary, several great nieces and nephews and his faithful and Adoring cat, Frankie. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his prior wife, Jean Pistorio of Bradford, MA, his sister, Mary Centola and his mother-in-law, Rosemary Regan Lafrance. A Memorial Service was held on January 9 at the Central Congregational Church, 14 Crescent Street in Derry. Myron W. Cate
RAYMOND — Myron W. Cate, 79, of Hay Springs, Nebraska died peacefully at home on August 20, 2010. Myron was born on February 23, 1931 in Manchester. He was a resident of Raymond, until he joined the United States Navy at the age of 17. He proudly served his country in both the Navy and then the Air Force during the Korean War. Myron's patriotism and strong love of American Freedom was seen as he was known to even carry a copy of the Bill of Rights and the US Constitution in his pocket.
