Fred L. Wallace

FREMONT – Fred L. Wallace, 88, died June 15, 2008 at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, after a brief illness.

He was born May 10, 1920 in Raymond, son of the late Edward and Florence (Young) Wallace.

Fred grew up one of nine children in Raymond, and attended the local school system. In 1940, Fred married Edith Hall and they were married 58 years until her death in 1998. They settled in Fremont in 1955 to raise their family, and lived there for over 50 years.

Mr. Wallace worked the last 40+ years at Rowe’s Gas in Fremont. He formerly worked in many local area shoe companies, and at Mr. Gove’s chicken farm for several years in Raymond.

In his spare time, Fred loved ice fishing, walking, and snow mobiling.

He is survived by one son, John Wallace of Raymond, two daughters, Carole Copp of Fremont, and Cheryl Durling, also of Fremont, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, two brothers, Roland Wallace of Raymond, and Francis Wallace of FL, one sister, Evelyn Wright of Raymond, and several nieces and nephews.

A private funeral was held for the family on June 19. Burial was in the Village Cemetery, Fremont.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice.
