HAMPSTEAD - Ronald R. Cambra, 73, of Hampstead, died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at his home, following a long illness.
Born and raised in Fall River, MA, son of the late Manuel and Isabella (Seiffert) Cambra, he attended Durfee High School and served as a submariner in the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict.
A former resident of Kingston, MA before moving to Hampstead in 1972, he also lived in Royal Palm Beach, Florida for five years before returning to Hampstead in 2007.
He was employed as a sales representative and book-keeper at Grolier Publishers until his retirement in 1992, and had also worked at Britannica Publishers.
A member of St. Anne’s Parish of Hampstead, he was also a member of Maximilian Kolbe Council of the Knights of Columbus and a 4^th Degree member of Bishop Peterson Assembly of Salem. He enjoyed fishing and spending time at the beach.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Claire (Levesque) Cambra, sons and daughters-in-law, US Army Staff Sgt. Michael R. and Estelle Cambra of Salem, Jason R. and Darlene Cambra of Hampstead, and Keith R. Cambra of Salem; daughters and sons-in-law, Jayne E. Cambra of Plaistow, Diane E. and Stewart McCormack of Plaistow, Christine C. and Marc Auger of Hampstead, Heidi E. and Barry Paleno of Hampstead,
Kimberly A. and Philipo Smith of Salem; sisters, Marilyn Michaud, of Royal Palm Beach, Florida, Barbara Arajuo of Fall River, and Joyce Costa of Tiverton, RI; also seventeen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral was held on May 27 at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anne’s Church, Hampstead.

Patricia Diamond
BRENTWOOD-Ptricia Diamond, 76, of Deer Hill Road in Brentwood, died Monday, May 18, 2009,with family and friends by her side, in Exeter Hospital after a long illness that tested her strength but never broke her spirit.
Pat was born Ethel Lorraine Farewell on April 14, 1933 in Boston, MA, the only child of the late Henry Farewell and Vera (Newcombe) Archer and the beloved niece of the late Ethel Carleton, who gave her the lifelong nickname “Patsy”.
Throughout her life, Pat worked as an interior decorator, restaurateur, entertainer and in sales, but her real passion was for helping others. She redefined the proverb, “charity begins at home”, opening her large Brentwood home to countless who needed a place to stay, a warm meal or a helping hand. She never turned away a stranger and each quickly became her friend.
Pat was so very proud of the four daughters she leaves behind, Deborah Jane Frazier of Raymond, Pamella Anne Studebaker of Kissimmee FL, Sarena Diamond Meyer of Somers, NY, and Cheryl Elizabeth Field of Brentwood. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous family members and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly.

Norman E. West, Sr.
NEWTON- Norman Ellsworth West, Sr., age 76, longtime resident of Newton, died unexpectedly at his home in Newton on May 25, 2009. He was the husband of the late Lillian N. (St. Paul) West, who died August 18, 2002.
Born in Danville on December 31, 1932, he was the son of the late Elmer E. and Gertrude (Shaw) West. He was the Union Manager at Western Electric, where he retired in 1989.
Norman was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Newton. He was an avid car enthusiast and was a member of several car clubs. One of his prized possessions was a gray 1959 Corvette, always spit-shined and ready for any show.
His survivors include his daughter, Donna Matousek of Pascoag, RI; four sons, Norman E. West, Jr. of Ogunquit, ME, Gary D. West of Blackstone, MA, Keith W. West and wife Mary of Gramby, MI, and Shawn E. West of Ogunquit, ME; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a step-daughter, Lauren M. Dragon of Danville. He was predeceased by his sons Scott B. West, Audie L. West and his step-son, Richard J. Dragon.
His funeral was held on June 1 at Paul C. Rogers & Sons, Amesbury, MA, followed by a funeral mass at Mary Mother of the Church, Newton. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Newton.
William W. Wheaton
DANVILLE-William W. “Bill” Wheaton, 74, of Danville, died Tuesday,
May 26, 2009, at the Exeter Healthcare Center, following a long illness.
Born in Lynn, MA, he attended Lynn public schools and was a graduate of the former Lynn Technical High School. A veteran of the Korean Conflict, he entered the United States Air Force in 1952, and served as a jet engine mechanic.
Before his retirement in 1994, Mr. Wheaton was employed for twenty-seven years at General Electric Co. in Lynn, MA. He later worked as a driver for the Lynn Visiting Nurses Association and for Richmond Pharmacy.
A resident of Danville for the past five years and a member of the Lynn Fish and Game Club, he enjoyed camping, fishing and playing card games and cribbage with his friends and grandsons.
For the past twenty-two summers, he enjoyed his camp at Alton Bay, spending time with his brother-in-law and his wife. His family and friends will miss his humor and wit and the many stories he told around the campfire. He was an avid animal lover and was devoted to his canine companion, Dusty.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of forty-four years, Patricia (Smith) Wheaton, two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Lois Wheaton of Gloucester, MA, and Thomas and Elizabeth Wheaton of Lynn, MA, a daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Charles Carzone of Lynn, MA, a loving daughter-in-law, Cheryl Wheaton of Sandown, a brother-in-law and his wife Lawrence and Janet Smith of Fredericksburg,
VA, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many of his past and present friends in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He was predeceased by a brother Earl Wheaton, sister, Elizabeth Carper, and twin-sister, Elinor Jellison.
A graveside service was held on May 29, in the Meeting House Cemetery, Danville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Salem Animal Rescue League, 4 Sarl Drive, Salem.
