Anne E. O’Donnell
HAMPSTEAD – Anna E. O’Donnell, 83, a longtime resident of Hampstead, died April 24, 2008, at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry.
Born in Everett, MA, daughter of the late Frederick and Theresa (Martin) O’Donnell, she graduated from Everett High School as a member of the Class of 1943, and attended a Boston secretarial school, and was an active volunteer with the USO during WWII.
Miss O’Donnell was first employed as an accountant in the Boston offices of Bethlehem Steel and later worked for many years as an accountant for Columbia-Pontiac of Dorchester eventually rising to secretary and treasurer of the corporation. She worked as a bookkeeper at Plaistow Subaru for many years, and for several other auto businesses in the Southern New Hampshire area before her retirement.
A longtime member of St. Anne’s Parish of Hampstead, Miss O’Donnell volunteered many hours as a housekeeper and cook at the rectory and was devoted to her faith and her family. She also enjoyed gardening, reading and knitting.
She is survived by her sister, Mary G. Wall of Peabody, MA, and several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by a sister Isabella M. Keefe and her brothers, Frederick A. O’Donnell, Jr., George B. O’Donnell, Joseph H. O’Donnell, Lawrence E. O’Donnell, Carl L. O’Donnell and William F. O’Donnell.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, April 28, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, NH.
Her funeral was held on April 29, from Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Anne’s Church, Hampstead.
Mary-Jane (Theroux) Roy
EAST KINGSTON – Mary-Jane (Theroux) Roy, 71, beloved wife Armand Roy, died April 26 at Mass General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. She was born in Amesbury and was a graduate of Amesbury High School with the class of 1954. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Lillian (Provencher) Theroux.
In recent years she lived in East Kingston during the summer and the Villages of Lady Lake, Florida during the winter. Mary-Jane loved to travel, play golf, bake, and sew. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Along with her husband of 52 years, she is survived by a son, Michael Roy of Sioux Falls, SD, her daughter Michelle MacDougall and her husband John of Newburyport, MA, one brother, Charles Theroux and wife Michelle of New Smyrna, FL, and several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A memorial funeral mass will be celebrated on Wed., May 7 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church of Holy Family Parish on School Street in Amesbury. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her name to the Mass General Hospital Fund, 165 Cambridge St., Suite 600, Boston, MA 02114. Arrangements are by the E.V. Jutras & Sons Funeral Home in Amesbury, MA.
Rita J. Sykes
PLAISTOW – Mrs. Rita J. (Reed) Sykes, 80, of Plaistow, died Sunday morning, April 27, 2008, at the Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood.
Born in Rumford, ME, daughter of the late Othie and Lydia (Collins) Reed, she moved to Georgetown, MA as a child, and graduated from Georgetown High School.
Mrs. Sykes was employed for many years as a cafeteria worker at the Pollard School and the Timberlane Regional Middle School and Timberlane Regional High School, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plaistow and the Triangle Guild. An avid reader, she also enjoyed crossword and jigsaw puzzles and making blankets for the Salem Animal Rescue League.
The wife of Gordon B. Sykes, Jr., who died in 2006, she is survived by a daughter, Joyce M. Sykes of Plaistow, and a son Gordon “Lee” Sykes of Plaistow and his fiancé, Eleanor West of Chester, also several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral was held on May 2, in the First Baptist Church, Plaistow. Burial was in Plaistow Cemetery.

Frank J. Sullivan
EAST HAMPSTEAD – Frank J. Sullivan, Jr., 81, a resident of East Hampstead for the past twenty-four years, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at his home.
Born, raised and educated in Somerville, MA, son of the late Frank and Mabel (McNamara) Sullivan, he served in the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a former resident of Atkinson and Derry.
Mr. Sullivan worked for several years as a manager in the candling room of the Derry Egg Auction and later as a truck driver for Woodmont Orchards of Londonderry. At the time of his retirement, he was employed as a plumber for Lewis Builders of New Hampshire.
Mr. Sullivan was a life member and past-commander of the Carl Davis Post of the American Legion of Plaistow, a member of the “40 & 8” and a former member and past commander of the Derry Post of the American Legion.
He was an avid Red Sox baseball, and a golfing fan.
He is survived by his wife and best friend, Janice “Jan” E. Burns, a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and James Ellingwood of Derry, a step-son and his wife Randy and Pam Burns of Plaistow and a step-daughter, Wendy Burns and her companion Dean of Chester, MA, two brothers, Paul Sullivan of Londonderry and John “Jack” Sullivan of Jefferson, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service was held on April 30, at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow.
Dorothy B. Tichanuk
SANDOWN – Mrs. Dorothy B. (Anderson) Tichanuk, 84, a resident of Fox Den for the past four years, and a former longtime resident of Billerica, MA, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Parkland Medical Center in Derry.
Born on July, 7, 1923, in Woodcliff-on-Hudson, NJ, daughter of the late Edgar and Katrina (Brewster) Anderson, she graduated from Vassar College. Mrs. Tichanuk worked as a social worker and later as a substitute teacher in the Billerica School System.
A former member of St. Mark’s Episcopal church of Burlington, MA, she was a member of several bowling leagues and also enjoyed bingo.
The wife of the late Theodore Tichanuk, who died in 2003, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick W. and Kathy Tichanuk of Wesley Chapel, FL, a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and William Post of Danville, grandchildren, Christopher Tichanuk, Audrey Tichanuk, William Post, Jr., and Holly Post, a brother William Anderson of California, sisters Mary Williams of Virginia and Edith March of Milford, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held on April 30 at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow.
Richard W. Wade
HAVERHILL, MA – Richard W. Wade, 83, formerly of Haverhill, MA, and Hampstead, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at Prescott House in North Andover, MA.
Born in Saugus, MA, son of the late Raymond and Esther (Palmeter) Wade, he was raised in Swampscott and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Navy, as a radar man during W.W.II in the European, African, Middle Eastern and Asiatic-Pacific areas.
Following his discharge from the service, he attended the Tilton Academy in Tilton, and later received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami in 1950.
Mr. Wade worked first at General Electric Co. of Lynn for several years and was then employed as a purchasing agent for Western Electric Co. and AT&T Technologies for twenty-five years before retiring in 1981. He then worked at Coughlin Electric Co in Worcester and as a school crossing guard for the City of Haverhill.
A resident of Hampstead from 1955 until 1995, Mr. Wade was a former member of the Hampstead Congregational Church and was a member of The Carl Davis Post of the American Legion, Plaistow, the “Four Stackers” APD, and The Telephone Pioneers of America. He enjoyed yard sales and flea markets and taking part in local antique venues.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara (Wood) Wade, a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Wade and Tim Swinerton of Sandown, grandchildren, Wade Flick, Evan Swinerton and Page Swinerton, and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service was held on May 4, at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445.
