Paul J. DiVasta
SANDOWN – Paul J. DiVasta, 58, a resident of Sandown since 1985, died Sunday morning, April 20, 2008, at the Parkland Medical Center in Derry, following a motor vehicle accident in Hampstead.
Born in Somerville, MA, son of Joseph and Lorraine (Bernicchi) DiVasta of Somerville, he graduated from Somerville High School and received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Tufts University. Following Officer Training School, Paul served in the US Air Force as a Captain and Pilot of a B-52 during the Vietnam War.
Since 1984, he has been employed as a technical consultant at Seabrook Station for Florida Power and Light and previous owners of the station.
He was a member of the Information Technical Exchange Group, and the Seabrook Station Bowling League. He also enjoyed his family, motorcycle riding, logic puzzles, computerized technology and movies. He was also a Mathematics Tutor in the Adult Literacy Program for GED in the Timberlane, Derry, and Exeter School Districts.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Pacita “Renee” (Sipper) DiVasta, son and daughter-in-law, Brian P. and Amy DiVasta of Mansfield, MA; three daughters, Melanie A. DiVasta of the North End, Boston, Christi M. DiVasta of Dover, and Laura M. DiVasta of Manchester; two sisters, Corinne Janetakos of Woburn, MA, and Jeanne DiVasta of Chelsea, MA; also grandchildren, James P. DiVasta-Coill, Alexis S. DiVasta, Nicholas B. DiVasta, and Sydney P. DiVasta.
His funeral was held on April 25 at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Barbara F. Emerson
BARRINGTON – Mrs. Barbara F. (Collins) (Rouleau) Emerson, 82, a resident of Barrington since 1994 and formerly of Plaistow, died Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Frisbee Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
Born and raised in Plaistow, daughter of the late Eugene F. and Lydia M. (LeClair) Collins, she attended the Pollard School and the former Sanborn Seminary, Kingston.
Mrs. Emerson was employed as a sales associate and office clerk at the former J.M.Fields, Haverhill, MA, King’s Department Store and Ames Department Store, and finally retired from Zayre’s Department Store, all of Plaistow.
She was a former member of Holy Angels Parish of Plaistow, and enjoyed knitting, rug hooking, arts and crafts, crocheting and stamp collecting.
The wife of the late Clarence Rouleau and former wife of Fred Emerson, she is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas B. and Sandra Rouleau of Plaistow, Wayne M. and Cathy Rouleau of Derry, and Mark S. and Deborah Rouleau of St. John FL; two daughters, and sons-in-law, Dona and Walter Sprague of Barrington, and Linda and Richard Rheaume of Barrington; a son-in-law, Dennis DeBlois of Sandown; two brothers, Maurice “Jake” Collins of Atkinson, and Kenneth Collins of Newton; a sister Judy Redman of Plaistow; thirty-four grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, David Rouleau, two daughters, Carole Ann DeBlois and Sharon L. Johnson, two brothers, Bernard Collins and Marlin Collins, and a sister, Gladys Paradis.
Her funeral was held on April 26, from Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow, followed by a Liturgy of the Word in Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Plaistow. Burial was in Pine Grove Cemetery, Kingston.
Hazel E. Rogan
SANDOWN – Hazel E. Rogan, 98, of Sandown, died Saturday, April 19, 2008 at her home.
Mrs. Rogan was born in Derry, on June 18, 1909, a daughter of the late Herbert and Gertrude (Pillsbury) True. She was a resident of Sandown for over 50 years.
Mrs. Rogan graduated from Pinkerton Academy in Derry and then Deaconess Hospital in Boston, MA, in 1931 as a Registered Nurse and worked in that field until her retirement in 1957. She was an associate member of the East Hampstead Union Evangelical Church, a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church in Sandown, the United Methodist Women of the Church, the Sandown Grange for over 45 years where she was also a Past Master. She was also a member of the Friends of the Library, the 60 Plus Club, The Historical Society, The Old Meeting House Historical Association, and the East Hampstead Ladies Circle. Mrs. Rogan enjoyed crocheting and making things for church fairs.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Rogan in 1941, six brothers, Richard, Clifton, Rudolph, Cecil, Roland, and Edwin True, and a sister, Eunice True.
A graveside service was held on April 26, in the Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling the arrangements. Rodney E. Walker
RAYMOND - Rodney E. Walker, 43, died April 18, 2008 at the Elliott Hospital in Manchester, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born November 7, 1964 in Exeter, son of Mary (Merrill) Walker and the late Rodney Walker.
Rodney grew up in Raymond and was a graduate of Raymond High School, Class of 1982. In high school, Rodney played both basketball and baseball. His latest employment was for Greg’s Lawn Care for two years in Raymond; formerly he was employed by Lumbertown for five years, Kalwall Window Co. in Manchester, and some time for Raymond Smart working his horses. Rodney always had a special place in his heart for horses and was a fixture at local fairs with the horse pulling. He was a member of the Eastern Draft Horses Association.
He also was an avid ten pin bowler and had bowled many seasons, multiple nights of the week at the Strikers East Bowling Lanes in Raymond.
Rodney is survived by his mother, Mary Walker of Raymond, two brothers and their wives, Harry and Amy Walker of Candia, and Jim and Linda Greenough of Rutland, VT., one sister and her husband, Sue and Allen Smith of Raymond, two nieces, Rhonda Smith and Tori Greenough, and four nephews, Harry Walker Jr., Cedric Walker, Kevin Black Jr., and James Greenough.
Graveside services were held on April 22, at the New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond. Rev. Chandler Newton officiated.
