Jonathan D. DeRoche

KINGSTON – Jonathan D. DeRoche, Jr., 15, of Kingston, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at his home.

Born in Dorchester, MA, on September 19, 1992, he was the son of Jonathan D. DeRoche, Sr. and Debbie Lee (Bierley) Sardella. A resident of Haverhill, MA, for many years and later Constantia, NY for two years, he attended local schools before moving to Kingston in 2003. He attended Sanborn Regional High School as a sophomore and was a member of the basketball team.

Jonathan enjoyed playing baseball for local youth teams and also enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling, dirt biking, his computer and playing video games.

He is survived by his father, Jonathan D. DeRoche of Kingston, his mother Debbie Lee (Bierley) Sardella of Bradford, MA, a sister, Isabella Sardella of Bradford; paternal grandfather, David A. DeRoche of Haverhill and maternal grandmother, Carolyn (Ryan) Bierley of Haverhill; great grandmother, Mary DeRoche of Haverhill; a godmother and special aunt, Jennifer Licciardi of Haverhill and godfather, Timothy DeRoche of Haverhill; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Susan (Blackey) DeRoche, who died in 2007.

His funeral will be held on April 14 from Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial was in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

William J. Lonergan

ATKINSON – William J. Lonergan, 69, of Atkinson, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at his home.

Born in Weymouth, MA, December 20, 1938, son of the late John and Beatrice (Sylvia) Lonergan, he attended local schools and graduated from Weymouth High School.

He served in the Massachusetts Army National Guard and has been employed in the trucking industry for most of his life. He retired as a factory sales representative for Holland Hitch Co. of Michigan and had previously worked as a manager for Smith Transportation Co.

A resident of Atkinson for the past twenty-five years, Mr. Lonergan was a former longtime resident of Derry, NH, where he coached basketball and flag football for the Derry Recreation League. He was also a former CYO basketball coach at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish of Derry.

Mr. Lonergan enjoyed following and discussing politics and was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and Red Sox. He also enjoyed playing basketball, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie (Kilburn) (Kinney) Lonergan, three sons, William D. Lonergan and his wife Lynne of Chester, Bruce Lonergan of Rockmont, GA, and Eric Lonergan and his wife Holly of Dallas, GA; two daughters, Debra A. Morris of Santa Clara, CA, and Tracey A. Lonergan of Derry; a step-son, Ronald E. Kinney of Kingston; four step-daughters, Robin G. Webster and her husband Steven of Wolfeboro, Debra L. Chase of Holderness, Patricia E. St. Peter and her husband Robert of Atkinson, and Terry J. Akashian of Chester; also a brother John B. Lonergan of Weymouth, MA and a sister, Eleanor Verrington of Texas; also thirteen grandchildren, and one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

A Service of Remembrance and Celebration of Mr. Lonergan’s life was held on April 16 at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow.
