Nancy Caporizzo

HAVERHILL, MA – Mrs. Nancy (Murray) (Baker) Caporizzo, 76, of Haverhill, MA, died Friday morning, March 21, 2008, at the Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

Born in Methuen, MA, and raised in the Bedford area, daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary L. (Kelly) Murray, she attended Lexington High School, graduating with the class of 1948 and Northern Essex Community College, Haverhill.

A resident of Haverhill since 1999, she worked as a Nurses Aid for the Greater Lawrence area Visiting Nurses Association for 17 years. While residing in Newton, NH from 1979 to 1999, she was a very active member of Mary Mother of the Church in Newton, where she served as a daily communicant and worked as a volunteer for many church-related associations and charities, including the church food pantry. Mrs. Caporizzo also enjoyed knitting.

The wife of the late Robert Baker and Patrick J. Caporizzo, she is survived by a son, Richard Baker and his companion, Deborah of St. Thomas in the U. S. Virgin Islands; three granddaughters, Kathryn Walker of Tuscon, AZ, Michelle Baker and Shauna Baker, both of Chantilly, VA; a sister, Gertrude Smales of Rome, NY; two sisters-in-law, Rita Wade of Newburyport, MA, and Gloria Swanbon of Georgetown, MA; one great grandson, Tyler Walker, and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by brothers, Richard Murray and Charles Murray, a sister, Priscilla Gardner, and a brother-in-law, Felix A. Caporizzo, Jr .

Her funeral was held on March 24, at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Mary, Mother of the Church, Newton. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery, Georgetown, MA.

Donations in her name may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Merrimack St., Ste. 1, Manchester, NH 03101-2244.



Walter O’Neill

HAMPSTEAD – Walter O’Neill, age 87, of Hampstead, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008, at the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. He was born in Boston, MA, and was the son of the late Thomas and Annie F. (Kelly) O’Neill.

Walter was raised and educated in Malden, MA. He owned and operated the former O’Neill Oil Service Company in Malden, and the former Pennywise Oil Company in Atkinson. He was a WWII veteran and served with the US Army and US Navy. During his service with the Army, he was in the tank division and during his service with the Navy he was on the USS Archerfish Submarine. He was a Commander and Past Commander of the American Legion Post #210 of Saugus, MA, a member of the Knights of Pythias of Malden, MA, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Walter loved music and loved to sing. He was an accomplished Irish Terror and sang in church choirs and local choral groups and was a warm and wonderful family man

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Bertha “Betty” (Burke) O’Neill; a son, Walter O’Neill, Jr. and his wife Bikki of Independence, Missouri; daughters, Kathleen R. Meaney of Hampstead and Ohio, Judith A. Perry of Hampstead, and Peggy Racicot and her husband Doctor David Racicot of Suffolk, Virginia; sister, Mildred Lalime of Norwalk, Connecticut. There are 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two great, great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Thomas and Richard O’Neill and father in law of the late James Perry.

His funeral was held on March 28, from Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anne’s Church, Hampstead. Burial was in West Hampstead Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.



Thomas J. Giambarresi

HAVERHILL, MA – Mr. Thomas J. Giambarresi, 54, of Haverhill, MA, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at his home.

Thomas was born in Haverhill, and was the son of the late Joseph and Lorraine (Faubert) Giambarresi. He was raised and educated in Haverhill and attended St. Joseph Grammar School and graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1972. He also attended Northern Essex Community College, Haverhill.

Thomas was an accomplished musician and played in the Newburyport and Haverhill areas for many years. He also spent two years traveling cross country playing guitar and piano. For a short time he also worked in Hi Tech Sales.

He is survived by two brothers, Leo I. Giambarresi and his wife, Therese, of Mt. Airy, MD, and Joseph P. Giambarresi and his wife, Rebecca of Haverhill; two stepbrothers, Harry Shaw and his wife, Donna, and John Shaw, all of Haverhill; three stepsisters, Pamela St. Onge of Concord, CA, Maureen Whiteman of Pennsylvania, and Lois Quinn of Sandown; and several nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his stepmother, Alma M. Giambarresi, a stepbrother, William Shaw, and a stepsister, Judith Shaw.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 28, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill.

His funeral was held March 29, at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, Haverhill, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Church, Haverhill. Burial will be private in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
