Richard A. Riley

PLAISTOW – Richard A. Riley, 73, of Plaistow, died Thursday, February 28, 2008, at Kindred Hospital of Boston and the North Shore, Peabody, after an extended illness.

Born in Plaistow, son of the late Irving and Esther (Nichols) Riley, he attended The Pollard School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Riley formerly operated Riley Brothers Auto Parts in Plaistow and later worked as an independent truck driver. He most recently worked as a heavy equipment operator for local contractors.

Mr. Riley enjoyed farming and raising and caring for his many farm animals.

Survivors include two sons, Richard A. Riley, Jr. of Lee, and David J. Riley and his wife Theresa of Belmont, ME; a daughter, Cheryl A. Eaton and her husband John of Lee; his longtime companion, Janet Biggart of Plaistow; a brother, Irving Riley, Jr. of Newton; a sister, Marjorie Melvin of Raymond; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Alfred Riley, Leonard Riley, and Donald Riley.

His funeral will be held on March 3 at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, Plaistow, followed by burial in Walnut Cemetery, Haverhill, MA. Memorial donations may be made to The New Hampshire Wildlife Federation, 54 Portsmouth St., Concord, NH.





Roland M. Senter

HAVERHILL, MA – Roland M. Senter, 66, of Haverhill, MA, and a former longtime resident of Plaistow, died Sunday, March 2, 2008 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen.

Born in Exeter, son of the late Irving R. and Elizabeth N. (Robinson) Senter, he was raised in Plaistow and attended the Pollard School.

Mr. Senter worked as a heavy equipment operator for Busby Construction before his retirement, and had previously worked at Senter Brothers, Early & Sons and DeLucia Construction Co. Most recently, he also worked at Jack’s Towing in Plaistow and Chevron of New Hampshire.

He was a longtime member of the Plaistow Fire Department and the Plaistow Firemen’s Association and enjoyed attending truck shows and spending time with his friend Jack Hobbs at Jack’s Towing.

Survivors include his wife Emily (Messina) Senter; a son Michael Senter of Hampstead; a daughter Andrea Senter of Sandown; step-son, Gerald Boucher of Haverhill, MA; step-daughters, Priscilla Boucher of Maine, Penny Boucher of Salisbury, MA, and Patricia Moussa and her husband Nader of Houston, TX; a brother Clarence “Pat” Senter of East Hampstead; a sister Edna Barnum of Sandown; nine grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Dame, and a brother, Harry Senter.

His graveside service will take place in Plaistow Cemetery in the spring.
