Marine Corps Pvt. Taylor R. Johnson, son of Susan and Douglas Johnson of Hampstead, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Johnson is a 2012 graduate of Pinkerton Academy of Derry.
Timberlane Regional High School was selected as one of four New England Schools to showcase their current 21st century practices at the Connecticut Association of Public School Superintendent (CAPPS) “Students at the Center” conference. The presentation highlighted Timberlane’s progression and success in the areas of: school climate, freshman academy, co-teaching, differentiation, multiple pathways, and the integration of technology. Representing Timberlane at the conference were Principal Donald Woodworth, Assistant Principal Mary Widman, Special Education Department Chair Ros Moriarty, Guidance Counselor Heather Roy and Special Education teacher leader Bill Mealey.The group is part of the New England Secondary School Consortium and the League of Innovative Schools.
More residents in the Granite State can quickly email photos, download music and surf the Internet now that FairPoint Communications has expanded broadband service to more than 140 homes and businesses in the towns of Fremont, Brentwood and Stratham. This expansion is part of FairPoint’s plan to increase broadband access to 95 percent of its service areas in New Hampshire. High-speed connection areas include portions of the following streets/roads in: Fremont: Beach, Bean, Brentwood: Deer, Gristmill, Kelsy, Kirsten, Main, Pigeon, Pine, Riverside and Tibbetts; Brentwood: Fellows, Hilltop, Middle, Mill, Old Danville, River and Rousseau; andStratham: Marin and One Fine Chocolate.
JP Sanborn, the President and Founder of Journeyman basketball, and Alex Price, President of the Journeyman Players Association, delivered a framed jersey and league photo to Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics in Exeter on November 9. The jersey was given as a token of appreciation and presented to Sports Medicine physician Dr. Kevin Heaton and Eric Cimon, Community Relations Director for Access Sports Medicine & Orthopaedics. Earlier in 2012, the Physicians of Access Sports Medicine made a generous donation to Journeyman Basketball to help pay for 200 new jerseys which will be worn by the 500 athletes that participate Journeyman Basketball program each year.
The Regional Economic Development Center (REDC) of Southern New Hampshire is pleased to announce a tax credit purchase from TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank¨, in the amount of $25,000 towards REDC’s Annual Capacity Program. The donation will allow REDC to continue to serve new and growing business through alternative lending and technical support within its territory. With the development of the REDC Business Training Center, REDC will soon be able to provide a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs, existing businesses, lenders and community leaders seeking assistance to help them stimulate economic activities. Included will be space, with complete electronic support, for training sessions sponsored by area business groups, trade associations, and educational institutions.
International Cars, Ltd. (ICL) and its family of dealerships, including Honda North, Dover Honda, Dover Chevrolet, Audi Strathamand Porsche of Stratham, proudly presented a donation of $15,000 to Veterans Northeast Outreach Center, located in Haverhill, MA. To commemorate “Veterans Appreciation Month”, ICL dealerships donated $100 from every vehicle sold to the Center and its programs addressing the needs of veterans and their families throughout the Merrimack Valley. In addition to donating $100 per vehicle, ICL also offered employee pricing to all veterans and active duty military members throughout the month of November.
