---- — They responded to Hurricane Sandy, fought fires, provided relief to disaster-devastated communities, mentored disadvantaged youth, coordinated thousands of volunteers, and developed into our nation’s future leaders. AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) graduated 479 members this July who completed over half a million hours of service and over 275 projects, including 78 disaster services projects. One local individual was part of this effort and completed ten months of full-time service to communities in need: Jennifer Chasse of Hampstead. Chasse, who arrived at NCCC’s Pacific Region Campus in Sacramento, Calif. on October 10, 2012 to begin her term of service, graduated from the program on July 23, 2013. Most Corps Members departed from their respective campus and began travel to their home of record immediately following their ceremony. Chasse was part of a team of about 10 other members who completed a series of six- to eight-week-long projects in different communities across the country.

For the sixth consecutive year, Exeter Health Resources has been named one of the nation’s “Most Wired” health care organizations for its use of information technology. This year the local health care organization received the highest level of recognition given out to hospitals in the nationwide Most Wired ranking, according to the 2013 Most Wired Survey released in the July issue of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine. Beckwood Services, Inc., in Plaistow, a leading manufacturer of electronic controls for automated capital equipment and analytical instruments for Fortune 1000 companies, has recently been awarded Raytheon’s prestigious 5 Star Supplier Award for its performance in 2012. Companies receiving this award are judged by several criteria, including affordability, quality, on-time delivery, sustained performance and commitment to continuous process and quality improvements. Beckwood is currently in its fourth year of providing mission critical components for Raytheon’s Patriot Program. In this short period of time, Beckwood has earned recognition as a 4 Star supplier and has achieved the 5 Star designations twice. People’s United Community Foundation, the philanthropic arm of People’s United Bank, has awarded $6,000 to Easter Seals New Hampshire. Easter Seals New Hampshire provides more than 90 unique disabilities services to infants, children, young adults, adults, and seniors in need, ensuring that all people with disabilities or special needs and their families have access to equal opportunities.

Piscataqua Savings Bank recently awarded $5,000 to Families First Health and Support Center to support mobile dental services for the homeless. The mobile dental program, launched in August 2010, visits Cross Roads House homeless shelter every week, and at sites in Hampton and Rochester once a month. Almost 300 people were served last year.
