Award-winning Poet Robert Crawford of Chester has published his newest poetry collection,The Empty Chair (Evansville University Press). Crawford is the winner of the 2011 Richard Wilbur Award and 2011 Howard Nemerov Sonnet Award. This is his second book of poetry. The book is already receiving high praise being called, "a powerful collection of exquisitely-crafted poetry." Jim Sullivan of Stratham, chair of the Department of Academic Preparation and a professor of mathematics at Northern Essex Community College, has been named a recipient of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Awards for Excellence, a national honor which recognizes outstanding teachers in the country's community colleges. Jim is also a professor of mathematics and has worked at Northern Essex since 2004 as a professor of Developmental Math.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, announced fourteen New Hampshire Guard and Reserve members nominated their employers for the 2012 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. The agency received 3,236 nominations nationwide. The Freedom Award is the Department of Defense's highest recognition for employers supporting members of the Guard and Reserve. Local nominees include Faith Lutheran Church in Exeter and The New England Agency of MetLife in Exeter. Up to fifteen recipients will be announced this summer and honored in Washington, D.C. on September 20 at the 17th annual Freedom Award Ceremony.
