In its March, 2013 publication, Provider Magazine, the national publication of the American Health Care Association, recognized Colonial Poplin/Poplin Way Co-Owner/Administrator, Jeff Philbrick, as one of the twenty health care professionals who are on the rise and worthy of watching. Philbrick was praised for his devotion both to Colonial Poplin and Poplin Way and to the residents and staff. Recognized as a leader in the health care industry, Philbrick credits his mother with teaching him that the foundation of a strong, rewarding business is people – residents, family and staff. The Governor and Executive Council met on April 17 in the Executive Council Chamber at the State House, Concord, and considered an agenda of approximately 110 items. The Following individuals from District 3 were nominated by Governor Hassan to serve on Boards and Commissions: Lorraine Stuart Merrill, Stratham, as Commissioner of the Department of Agriculture, Markets, and Food; and Debra S. Grabowski, Raymond, to the Health Services Planning and Review Board.

People’s United Bank recently introduced a mobile check deposit feature to its mobile banking services. Retail banking customers can now deposit checks just by snapping a photo of the front and back of the endorsed check and using a free smartphone app to deposit it. The free service allows iPhone and Android smartphone users to log in to their account using the People’s United Mobile App, select “Deposit” and follow the simple steps to complete the deposit. The apps are available at Apple’s iTunes store or the Google Play store.
Navy Seaman Colin F. Sullivan, son of Loree and Mark S. Sullivan of Stratham, and other sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN74) recently arrived in Singapore for a schedule port visit. This is the first port visit since entering the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility (AOR) after five months of operating in and around the Arabian Gulf. Sullivan is a 2008 graduate of Exeter High School, and joined the Navy in June 2012.
Navy Seaman Recruit Sarah A. Haile, daughter of Luanne K. Shockley of Exeter, and Robert M. Haile, of Hampton, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Haile is a 2010 graduate of Exeter High School.
Marine Corps Pvt. Alexander J. Stockel, son of Sandra L. and Edward H. Stockel of Raymond, earned the title of United States Marine after graduating from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. One week prior to graduation, Stockel endured The Crucible, a 54-hour final test of recruits’ minds and bodies. Upon completion, recruits are presented the Marine Corps emblem and called Marines for the first time.
