Ernest P Barka Assisted Living at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood, is very proud to announce they have received a deficiency free survey from the State of NH according to Steven Woods, Long Term Care Services Director. The survey looks at all aspects of the environment and the care that is provided throughout the entire year.

Four local business leaders, Angela Miele of Londonderry, Thomas Mortimer of Haverhill, Al Getler of Windham, and Scott Cote of Derry, were recently appointed to the Northern Essex Community College Foundation board. The NECC Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization established to provide support and expanded opportunities for the college.

Squamscott Community Commons (SCC) and Southern District YMCA/Camp Lincoln, Inc. (Southern District YMCA) announce that they have entered into a Purchase and Sale Agreement for the property at 56 Linden Street, the former Exeter Region Junior High School. The details of the agreement are not public at this time. Each organization is eager to move forward to bring about a final agreement, with all of the necessary permits in place that would yield a transfer of deed within six months. Recently, the Southern District YMCA partnered with the Exeter Center for the Creative Arts (ECCA) to expand art education programming in Exeter. Y-Arts classes and an afterschool program began in September 2011 at the 30 Linden Street 'YMCA at ECCA' facility. Additionally, the Y has worked closely for the past 25 years with 14 area school districts to offer School Age Child Care. This ability to orchestrate successful community collaborations will be the strength of the Y to move forward with a community-centered facility in Exeter.

Jewett Construction Company, Inc. has contracted with SIG SAUER of Exeter, to construct a 4,500 sf Pro Shop at their Academy in Epping. The new building will house the administrative staff for the company's training facility as well as a large Pro Shop for display and sale of SIG SAUER firearms and accessories. FairPoint Communications recognized its outstanding sales leaders at the annual company-wide sales gathering recently. Ten Granite Staters, were singled out for their top performances in meeting customer needs and outstanding service, including Betsy VanDerWater-Fuller of Epping.

Six Northern Essex Community College faculty members were recently named recipients of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Awards for Excellence, a national honor which recognizes outstanding teachers in the country's community colleges. Local recipients include Jim Sullivan of Stratham, chair of the Department of Academic Preparation and a professor of mathematics, and Bill Zannini of Salem, associate professor in the business programs department.

Core Pediatrics of Exeter was one of two large pediatric practices in New Hampshire to receive statewide recognition for their immunization program. The Exeter practice was presented the 2012 award for Excellence in Vaccines for Children and Adolescents during the New Hampshire Immunization Program's annual conference in March. In presenting the award, it was noted that Core Pediatrics of Exeter consistently provided the recommended vaccines to above 90 percent of their pediatric and adolescent patients.

The Rite Aid Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to Families First Health and Support Center. This grant, the third The Rite Aid Foundation has made to Families First, will help the community health center absorb the cost of providing subsidized health care services to uninsured patients in the Seacoast region.

Enterprise Bank announced that it is donating $25,000 to the Regional Economic Development Center of Southern New Hampshire's (REDC) Business Training Center Tax Credit program. REDC received a Tax Credit Award from New Hampshire's Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA), which funds community development projects through the use of tax credits for NH businesses that contribute. The donation will allow REDC to develop a business training center in southern New Hampshire, with a goal of providing a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs, existing businesses, lenders and community leaders seeking assistance to help them stimulate economic activities in their communities.

Stratham's The Wingate Salon and Spa, owned by Tom and Claire McDermott, recently was named to the Salon Today 200 by Salon Today magazine, the top business publication for salon and spa owners. The magazine's 15th annual Salon Today 200 issue profiled the selected salons in its January 2012 edition. The 200 salons were selected for their best business practices from applications submitted by Salon Today readers, who represent the 25,000 top-producing salons and spas in the country.
