Lamprey Health Care’s Sandra Pardus has received the Bi-State Primary Care Association’s 2013 President’s Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Bi-State’s mission of ensuring access to health care for vulnerable populations in New Hampshire and Vermont. In addition to her ongoing roles as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Information Officer for Lamprey Health Care, Ms. Pardus was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer when Ann Hathaway Peters retired in May after 34 years of service.

“Mission Statement for Batterer Intervention Program Providers and Students: A Workbook on Education Lessons and Exercises for Men Enrolled in a Batterer Intervention Program,” a new book by Dr. Jennie DiBartolomeo, of East Hampstead, has been released by Dorrance Publishing Co., Inc. In her book, Dr. Jennie DiBartolomeo, as one of the most dedicated professionals in this field, helps the batterer to identify his abusive behaviors and provides the tools in which to face and battle his controlling thinking.

Newburyport Five Cents Savings Bank recently announced its Charitable Foundation awarded a $7,500 grant to Families First Health & Support Center. These funds will go to support parent education programs at Families First, including parenting classes as well as hands-on education provided in a playgroup setting. Families First Health and Support Center, the community health center serving the Seacoast region, provides health care, dental care and family programs for all, regardless of ability to pay.   • Citizen of the Year

    The Atkinson Lions Club is pleased to announce that Martin (Marty) Feuer, pictured, has been chosen as the Atkinson Citizen of the Year for 2014. Marty has been an active member of the community since 1951 having been a firefighter for many years and served on the Timberlane School Board. He was the former owner of Feuer Lumber Company, and has passed the torch (and the business) to his son John Feuer. Marty is a U.S. Army Air Force veteran serving as a Glider Pilot and was shot down September 19, 1944 over Rethy, Belgium, and fought in the Normandy invasion. He has been married to his wife Eleanor, for more than 66 years and will celebrate his 93rd birthday on May 3. Please join the Feuer family and the Atkinson Lions to celebrate on Sun., May 4, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Atkinson Congregational Church.

    The Granite State South Board of REALTOR®s Affiliates Raise Money for Veterans’ Charities. On March 4th, the GSSBR Affiliates Committee presented the Liberty House with a check for over $3,000 raised from the successfully sold out event GSSBR, Love and Laughter Comedy Night for Veterans’ Charities. The event was held on January 24th at the Atkinson Country Club.     Sandown, NH — Jo Ann (Phelps) Hughes of Sandown, New Hampshire passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by all of her children at home. She was born in Little Bend Kentucky, to Beatrice (Shepherd) Phelps and John (Cat) Phelps in 1934. Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers, Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps and sisters, Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
