---- — The newest addition from Arcadia Publishing is “Sandown” from local authors Arlene F. Bassett and Barbara A. Lachance. The book boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days gone by in this New Hampshire town. Established in 1756, the Town of Sandown, has a rich history of hardworking men and women who farmed the land and set up shoe shops, lumber mills, blacksmith shops and taverns.
The Governor and Executive Council met on November 6, 2013 at the State House, Concord, and considered an agenda of approximately 131 items. The following local individuals from District 3 were nominated by Governor Hassan to serve on Boards and Commissions: Raymond R. Donald, Kingston, to the Air Resources Council; Phillip H. Ten winning tickets for the “By Land, Air & Sea” raffle for Veterans Count Seacoast, a program of Easter Seals NH, were pulled at Seacoast Harley-Davidson in recognition of Veterans Day. The raffle tickets, which have been sold by Veterans Count board members and volunteers since spring of this year, raised $40,000 to benefit veterans, service members and their families who are served by Veterans Count. The lucky winners, pulled by Veterans Count clients Lynn and Richard Mariello, were: Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle ($20,000): M. Mr Wise Guy of Wings & Hooves Therapeutic Riding, Inc., founded and directed by Karen Cuneo in East Kingston, has received the prestigious awards of PATH, Intl 2013 Region 1 Equine of the Year and the PATH, Intl 2013 International Equine of the Year! The Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH, Intl) sets safety standards and quality guidelines for the industry and is made up of 11 regions across the world. A 25 year young Arabian gelding, Mr Wise Guy was a multiple National Champion in the United States and Canada during a fifteen year career in an arduous sport before retiring to his second career as a trusted therapy mount. He is a member of an amazing team of horses who work their magic both in and out of the arena to change the lives of children and adults with special needs and life-altering challenges.
Mr Wise Guy sustained an injury early in his life which left him with paralysis in the lower right hand side of his face. Because of this, his tongue occasionally hangs out of his mouth like a happy puppy dog. Children and adults are naturally curious about his unique appearance, but when they learn that he is in no pain and he went on to win multiple world championships, he becomes an inspiration. Lamprey Health Care has welcomed Mr. Gregory White of Milford as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Mr. White comes to Lamprey Health Care after an intensive search process to replace CEO Ann Peters who recently retired after 34 years. For over two decades Mr. White has been committed to the mission of Community Health Centers, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer for the Lowell Community Health Center, in Lowell, MA.
