People on the Move

The newest addition from Arcadia Publishing is “Sandown” from local authors Arlene F. Bassett and Barbara A. Lachance. The book boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days gone by in this New Hampshire town. Established in 1756, the Town of Sandown, has a rich history of hardworking men and women who farmed the land and set up shoe shops, lumber mills, blacksmith shops and taverns.

The Governor and Executive Council met on November 6, 2013 at the State House, Concord, and considered an agenda of approximately 131 items. The following local individuals from District 3 were nominated by Governor Hassan to serve on Boards and Commissions: Raymond R. Donald, Kingston, to the Air Resources Council; Phillip H. Utter, Exeter, to the Judicial Council; and Yvonne M. Vissing, Chester, to the Juvenile Parole Board.

Ten winning tickets for the “By Land, Air & Sea” raffle for Veterans Count Seacoast, a program of Easter Seals NH, were pulled at Seacoast Harley-Davidson in recognition of Veterans Day. The raffle tickets, which have been sold by Veterans Count board members and volunteers since spring of this year, raised $40,000 to benefit veterans, service members and their families who are served by Veterans Count. The lucky winners, pulled by Veterans Count clients Lynn and Richard Mariello, were: Harley-Davidson Street Glide motorcycle ($20,000): M. Falzone, North Hampton; ACE-TEC stand up paddleboard package ($2,000): Daniel Sullivan, Exeter; Yukon FX off-road bicycle ($2,000): Russell Doyle, Hampton; Four $500 Kittery Trading Post gift cards: Theresa Desfosses, Old Orchard Beach, ME, Jack LeVie, Gloucester, MA, Mark Galvin, Rye, Dylan Frenell, Stratham; Flying Lessons ($300): Scott Jennato, Bedford; and two $300 cash prizes: Allan Johnson, Fairfax Station, VA, and Dan Zibaitis, Melrose, MA.   • Kingston Artist Participates in Exhibit

    NEWBURYPORT, MA —Mary Carolyn Webber of Kingston will present her monotype paintings at the Newburyport Art Association, located at 65 Water Street, Newburyport, MA. The Opening Reception will be held on Fri., August 1, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The exhibit runs through August 10.     Gideon Masonic Lodge No. 84 of Kingston, made a substantial donation to three students from the Seacoast School of Technology of Exeter, during a fundraiser held at the lodge on Church St., in Kingston.
