PORTSMOUTH —This December, the Prescott Park Arts Festival presents “A Christmas Carol”, the musical at Exeter Town Hall. The 43-year old local arts non-profit will bring the show on the road again this holiday season after much success in 2016. The Festivals highly anticipated return to Exeter’s historic town hall is slated to kick off the opening of the beloved Dickens classic, “A Christmas Carol, the musical” on Fri., December 8 and runs through Sun., December 17.
Following the Festival’s straight play version of the classic story in 2016, this year, the creative team well known for their summer musical productions has made the leap to present a musical version of the Dickens tale.
Theatergoers will embark on a magical and musical adventure this December. “A Christmas Carol,” tells the story of a bitter, old, penny-pinching miser named Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformation into a gentler, kinder man after being visited by the ghost of his former business partner and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.
The musical adaptation of this timeless Christmas story has been touted as one that “invites young and old alike to understand the world around them, making Dickens' message of redemption stronger and even more pertinent to all of us today.”
Tickets for all eight performances, including four matinees, are currently on sale through the festival website, www.prescottpark.org, and range from $10-$25, in addition to limited VIP tickets at $40.00.
