RAYMOND - Congratulations goes out to a good friend of mine, Salem’s State Representative Marilinda Garcia, who was named a “Republican National Committee Rising Star”, by the Republican National Committee.

Rep. Garcia was first elected a State Representative in November 2006, same time as me, at the young age of 23. She is a very dedicated, hardworking, conservative, straight shooter. Since 2007, Marilinda has been a member and is a past Co-Chairman of the House Republican Alliance, a conservative think tank organization, whose members are State Representatives. She is also a former House Majority Whip.

A Salem High grad., Rep. Garcia is a graduate of both Harvard and Tufts Universities. During her high school and college years, she was a very active volunteer with the Republican Party. Although already an accomplished harp player, she continues her studies at the New England Conservatory of Music.

She is the daughter of an Italian-American mother and a Spanish-American father. Rep. Garcia very proudly serves on the Executive Board of the “Americans by Choice”, an organization dedicated to immigration reform.

Again my friend, Congratulations, Rising Star!
