RAYMOND —Raymond Boy Scout Troop 3 recently held a “Court of Honor” recognizing all the hard work the scouts have been doing working on rank, merit badges, etc. Troop 3 is sponsored by the Raymond Congregational Church and has only been in existence for about forty months. It’s only a small troop under the excellent leadership of: Scoutmaster Jonathan McCosh Sr. and Assistant Scoutmasters, Michael St. Germaine, Charlene Columbus, Doug Dickerson, and John Bizios. June Dickerson is the Troop 3 Committee Chair.
I have been in scouting since 1947, working with six different troops, two as Scoutmaster, and four as Assistant Scoutmaster, also Raymond Pack 100, and now starting again with this troop, and I have never seen a troop so amazing. Their work is unbelievable. Daniel Webster Council, Historic District Executive Skip Chase presented the Troop with the national recognition “Journey into Excellence Gold Award”, officially making Troop 3 one of best troops in the nation. This is a great accomplishment.
There were many awards presented including: Troop Activity, Merit Badges, BSA Outdoor, and a Religious Award.
Three boys received their rank advancement “Progress Award”: Noah Brown, Scout; Nathan Columbus, 1st Class; and Joshua Ryan, Life Scout. The Life Scout rank is one rank below Eagle, and Joshua is the third scout to receive this award in Troop 3, in this troops short existence, a real tribute to the troop leaders.
Well done scouts, scout leaders, and the Congregational Church. You can all be very proud. “Congratulations to all”.
