---- — RAYMOND - As we close out the first year of the legislative 2013-14 term, I would again like to say a “Big Thank You!” to the people of Raymond for believing in me. It has been a true pleasure and great experience continuing to serve your best interests and needs as State Representative.

This term, I was moved from the House policy committee Resources, Recreation, and Development, to the Judiciary Committee where I serve as the Committee Minority Whip. Under Republican Leader Hon. Gene Chandler, I serve as a House Minority Assistant Whip.

As a very active strong conservative, always working for the best interest of the people, our current liberal Democrat Speaker of the House, Rep. Terie Norelli, removed me from all the study committees and commissions I had been serving on in the past. I also often served as a “one-day” substitute for any committee member who was absent, but Speaker Norelli changed the rules and you have to be absent a week to be replaced.

A State Representative also serves on the County Delegation where you are responsible for the budget and other things. As a County Delegation member, I continue to serve on its Executive Committee, and as Chairman of the Maintenance Sub-committee.

Thanks be to God, I have been able to continue to serve you with 100% attendance, 100% voting record, to the best of my ability, for the 7th year, both at the State House and Rockingham County Delegation levels. “Thank You Raymond, for this honor and privilege!”.

Two things I want to point out:

1. By far, the worse action by the Commissioners of Rockingham County I’ve seen in my 7 years as your representative, was the terrible decision of Commissioners Pratt and Coyle to vote to close the Rockingham County Adult Medical Day Care program. This is a much needed program in our county, and I will work hard to have it re-instated. This closing is a terrible disgrace to our county. The people of Rockingham County are better than that. We don’t just slam the door in the face of those that need us most - we assist them.

2. Under the excellent leadership of our 2011-12 Speaker of the House, Hon. William O’Brien, the Republicans crafted and passed the FY 2012-13 budget. According to the State Dept. of Administrative Services statement, this budget ended with a surplus of $72.2M. This shows the people our great state that this

budget not only preserved our state’s fiscal integrity during extremely difficult economic times, but it was able to close the $800M deficit the Democrats left us with, without raising taxes, but by making tough choices, eliminating waste, living within our means, and holding the line on spending. “Thank you, and well done!”, Hon. O’Brien. I am very proud to have been a part of your team.

Now is the time for Governor Hassan to stand up and immediately pledge to use this surplus to help replenish the State’s Rainy Day Fund that the Democrats raided in 2010. Let’s see what she does. My bet is they will use it on Democrat big liberal, big government agenda.
