My Opinion: November 1, 2012

RAYMOND – Rockingham County Executive Committee recently held its third quarter County budget review. With the conservative efforts done creating this budget, and the hard work of all our County employees, the third quarter total appropriations/expenditures came in at an estimated expended, as of 9/30/12, at $52,449.995, or 67% of the annual budget. The bio-mass plant is proving to be a great success and will be a big tax savings from now on. Our Director of Facilities, Planning, & IT, Jude Gates, was instrumental in this program and pushed hard to make it a reality. Great job Jude. Thank You for all your excellent leadership and commitment!

When a Republican Representative’s constituents vote you into office, they expect you to work for them. You must remember that legislating is not a parlor game, despite what many people will try to tell you about the virtues of bipartisanship. Once you are on the inside, you will quickly find it to be a formula for failure and betrayal of your constituents and your conscience. Our duty to you, as your elected Republican Representative, is to enact the Republican agenda, not to compromise in pursuit of unanimity and momentary public applause. Under the great leadership of our current Speaker of the House, State Representative Bill O’Brien, who understands this, and exercises it everyday, we were able to move this state forward with many good accomplishments this term. I will not repeat any here, as you have heard them many times already.

I will however, ask for your support for all Republican candidates, so we can continue our recovery, balancing the budget, and working for the people of this great state in many other areas. Please come out and vote! Thank you.
