KINGSTON — A service of worship with special emphasis on praying with the sick will be held on Fri., September 6, from 7:00-8:15 p.m. at New Creation Healing Center, 80 Route 125, Kingston. The service is non-denominational in nature and involves people from a number of area churches in its leadership.
Although we are put off by the “throw away your medicine and just pray” faith healing cults, and the bizarre antics of some television religious celebrities, healing the sick through prayer is part of normal Christianity. Some denominations see praying for the sick as a sacrament. Many more have services of healing in their denomination’s worship manuals. Leading the service on September 6 will be the Rev. Canon Mark A. Pearson who has an earned doctorate in Christian Healing ministry from prestigious Boston University. The healing ministry that New Creation Healing Center offers is mainstream and sane.
The service involves singing, a brief time of teaching, and then a time of prayer where a two-person team will pray with individuals for their needs. There is no admission charge but an offering will be received.
