SANDOWN - Earth Day is the largest, most widely celebrated international environmental event. Earth Day helps celebrate Earth’s unique place in the universe, teeming with incredible biodiversity. Learning about and protecting this biodiversity is what Earth Day is all about. On this day events are held worldwide to increase awareness and appreciation of the Earth’s natural environment.
To celebrate Earth Day and bring awareness to town residents, the Sandown Garden Club (SGC) will be at the Sandown Library on Main Street on Sat., April 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Garden Club members will distribute free seed packets to families that visit for planting in one’s own garden – a beautiful addition to the environment.
The purpose of the Sandown Garden Club is to share the knowledge of gardening with each other and the community; to participate in activities that enhance the beauty of the town’s public and historic places; to encourage respect for the environment and demonstrate techniques that conserve natural resources.
