Stories for Adults
HAMPSTEAD – After 25 years as a nationally recognized puppeteer, New Hampshire native Pat Spalding discovered her true calling as a storyteller for adult audiences. Silver Penny Puppets, Pat’s original venture, performed across the country until 2006. Now she calls herself a “recovering puppeteer” as she has taken up her second career writing and recounting first-person real life experiences for grown-ups.
On Tues., January 12, Pat will bring her unique talent to the Hampstead Public Library as she tells some of her stories for adults. The Friends of the Library are delighted to bring Pat Spalding and her stories to town. Pat’s material and her physical storytelling style have been praised for both their depth and humor. She has been featured on NH Public Radio and her poetry readings have been part of two Portsmouth Poet Laureate programs. She has performed her one woman show “We Stayed Together for the Puppets” at a variety of venues since it debuted in 2008. Her resume includes several other stage shows as well.
Pat now travels light so she may be open to whatever comes her way. “I just learned how to twirl a baton,” she said. “Who would have suspected that on the same year I qualified to collect Social Security I’d become a majorette with the Leftist Marching Band of Portsmouth, ?”
Please save the date and join Pat Spalding and the Friends of the Library at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th for this delightful program. It’s free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served following Pat’s performance. All members of the Friends are encouraged to remain after the show for the organization’s regular meeting.

Rockingham Craftsmen Disband

The Rockingham Craftsmen, a non-profit organization, founded in 1966, has recently disbanded after forty-three years.

They donated the remaining funds in their treasury to the NH Food Bank. This gift of $3,200 was presented to Lisa Merrill-Burzak by Rockingham Craftsmen members Steve Brogan and Reid Bunker. -

A Quilting Couple

Volunteers Needed for Relay Race
KINGSTON- The Bakie PTA will once again support the Reach the Beach Relay Race. The race starts in Bretton Woods and ends at the Hampton Beach State Park. The D.J. Bakie Elementary School will be a transition station for a third year. This station will provide food, drinks and rest for the relay teams.
