Successful Road Race

NEWMARKET —After a day of pelting rain, August 10 dawned with a bright sky and clear air to welcome over 115 runners participating in Lamprey Health Care’s annual 5K Road Race. Thanks to the wonderful turnout of runners and our generous sponsors, over $4,800 was raised. Participants spanned from 8 to 71 years of age, along with infants in strollers and a kids fun run to follow-up the race, making this truly a family event.

Proceeds from the event will support programs and services for Lamprey’s pediatric patients, including the Reach Out & Read Early Literacy Program, School-Based Dental Program, and Baby Steps, an early childhood development & screening program.

In addition to a healthy turnout from Newmarket, the runners came from throughout New England and beyond, including as far away as Tennessee, Illinois, Colorado and California. The results were very impressive, with first-place going to Justin Trott of North Hampton (16:57) in the men’s division and Carolyn Durfee of Portsmouth (19:43) in the women’s division. In the men’s division Chris Grange of Amesbury, MA came in second place (17:05) and Kyle Williams of Newmarket came in third place (18:44). In the women’s division Melissa Murray of Newmarket came in second place (20:06) and Summer Cook of Madbury came in third place (20:21).
