KINGSTON — Neighbors Helping Newborns, a 501c3 charity, will hold their annual Baby Shower on Wed., May 22, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Kingston Congregational Church, 6 Church Street, Kingston.
In the year 2012 members donated a total of 436 layettes to hospitals. They layettes contain sweaters, socks, blankets or quilts, onesies, tees, overalls, hats, receiving blankets, dresses, and other items. Hospitals look to Neighbors Helping Newborns for donations of the layettes to help those mothers who do not have a lot of items for their babies, also blankets, hand knitted or crocheted, hats, burial gowns and wraps.
Mrs. Nan Schea, a resident of Kingston, will be the shower gift opener. She did it last year too and it was a lot of fun. Come enjoy the meeting and all the volunteers. There will be a group of sewers, some knitters, the intake table that logs in all of the items donated that day, and of course the layette ladies, who assemble all of the girls and boys in newborn and premie sized layettes.
