KINGSTON - The Friends of the Kingston Community Library will host a first Anniversary Celebration and Plant Sale on Sat., May 18, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00p.m., at 2 Library Rd., Kingston.
A wide assortment of certified organic herbs, heirloom vegetables, and annuals will be offered for sale along with locally grown plants donated by members with proceeds from the sale to be used to support the landscaping of the library grounds and programming.
The Anniversary Celebration will honor the many volunteers and donors who “Imagined More” and made a dream become a reality providing the community with a state of the art green building to enable the library to offer facilities that are not only bright and airy but handicapped accessible and comfortable for the many meetings held there weekly.
Brass Plaques will be unveiled identifying the major donors along with the engraved pavers around the donated flag pole. Light refreshments will follow.
There is a misconception that libraries are a thing of the past and nobody needs paper books any longer however the Kingston Community Library, like its sister libraries, can attest to the reality that libraries are needed more now than ever before. The public, young and old alike, continue to read paper books but they also demand the latest technology. Computers, e-readers, audio books, DVD’s and the list goes on.
Come join the celebration and donate plants from your garden (you know it is time to divide them), and plan on purchasing those special plants to brighten up your summer garden and enjoy the camaraderie of celebrating our accomplishment. Plan to continue that support by joining the Friends of the Kingston Community Library.
