Legion Membership Drive

PLAISTOW - Carl G. Davis Post 34 of The American Legion, Depart of New Hampshire Invites all Veterans who served during the following time periods to join the American Legion: WWII –December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946; Korean War – June 25, 1950 to January 31, 1955; Vietnam War – February 28, 1961 to May 7, 1975; Lebanon/Grenada War – August 24, 1982 to July 31, 1984; Panama – December 20, 1989 to January 31, 1990; Gulf War on Terrorism – August 2, 1990 to present.

Eligible Veterans had to serve during the wars, but not necessarily in the wars. Any active member of the any military can join and his dues will be paid by the Post he joins for as long as he/she remains on active duty.

The American Legion lobbies Congress to provide VA funding for veterans medical needs, lobbies Congress to upgrade and improve Post – 9/11 GI Bill education benefits, provides cash grants to families of deployed service members with minor children, awards college scholarships to children of veterans and military personnel, supports the children impacted by deployments through Operation Military Kids, and through the Heroes to Hometowns program, helps severely injured service members return to home life, helps homeless veterans, offers Legionnaire Insurance Trust benefits, and sponsors community programs (Legion Baseball, Boys and Girls State, Oratorical competition).

  • Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown, 66

    Ft. Gibson, OK — Catherine F. "Kitty" (Clements) Brown passed away February 17, 2013, at her home in Ft. Gibson, Okla., after a brave battle with cancer. Kitty was born in Brentwood, N.H., on April 21, 1946, to the late Chester H. Clements and Catherine F. (Morse) Clements. She was raised in Kingston, N.H., and graduated from Sanborn Seminary. She lived for many years on Plum Island, Mass. While living on Plum Island, she was a columnist and photographer for The Daily News of Newburyport, as well as a school bus driver.

  • Ted "Teddy" Bolduc

    Fremont, N.H. — Ted “Teddy” Burleigh Bolduc, was born the youngest son of Phyllis and Joseph Bolduc Sr., on May 22, 1962. He died suddenly April 8, 2013, after a brief illness. Ted lived for most of his life in Fremont and Raymond. He was well known for his skills with heavy equipment and worked all his life in construction and excavation in the Fremont and Epping area. In addition to his work, he loved ice hockey, baseball, hunting, country music, and animals, especially his dog Finlay. He was very proud of, and also loved by, his very large family.
