Workshop on Herbs

KINGSTON —New Creation Gardens announces its first gardening workshop, “Knowing and Loving Your Herbs.” This workshop will be held on Sat., June 14, from 9:00-11:00 a.m., at the New Creation Gardens, located at New Creation Healing Center, 80 Route #125, Kingston.

Hands-on experience will include planting the herbs presented by the International Herb Association as their Herb of the Year for each year from 1995 to the present. A brief informative list of these herbs will be provided.

Leading this informative workshop will be Ginny Shannon of Newton. Over the years Ginny has explored the many uses of herbs –in cooking, decorations, medicines, cosmetics, companion plants, and as textile dyes. The extensive gardens at her residence feature more than 100 herbs and 80 varieties of vegetables inter-planted in her shade, perennial, medicine wheel, and vegetable gardens. Ginny has been a Master Gardener since 2003. Ginny designed, planted, and maintained her first public herb garden in Brentwood near the county complex from 2004-2010.

No fee is being charged, though a donation of $10.00 is appreciated.

A second workshop, “Knowing and Loving Your Perennials” will be held on June 28, also from 9:00-11:00 a.m. A dedication of the Formal Garden at New Creation will be held on Sun. June 29 at 12:30 p.m.
