Cemetery Clean-up

NEWTON - It is spring clean-up time. The Town of Newton Cemetery Trustees have announced that work is under way to get ready for Memorial Day, so the old Christmas wreaths and other Holiday decorations must go. Please check the cemetery Rules and Regulations on the town’s web site for a complete listing of prohibited items.

The following is a partial list of what Newton residents and Trustees agreed are prohibited items:

No glass items of any kind except those that can be enclosed in a durable, un-breakable fixture. No plastic flowers. No stuffed animals. No fencing. All personal items and decorations must be durable and over 8” in height. This eliminates gravel, glass beads, etc. Prohibited items will be removed and discarded after May 11th.

The Newton Cemetery Trustees thank residents in advance for their help in keeping Newton’s cemeteries a reverent symbol of respect for those buried in them.
