Apple Pie Contest

EXETER – Mark your calendars! The Exeter Area Chamber is inviting all bakers in the Seacoast region to showcase their best apple pie recipe for the Apple Pie Contest at Swasey Parkway as part of the 14th annual Fall Festival to be held on Sat., October 20.

The public is encouraged to dig out their favorite recipe and give it a try!

The pies will be judged in one of three categories: Adult/Professional, Age 16 and Under, and Non-Apple for those who wish to venture into other pie making arenas.

Professional bakers or dessert aficionados will judge the pies in a blind tasting based upon taste and appearance, and awards will be presented to the top three pies in each category.

However, the best reward will be a year of bragging rights!

In the spirit of friendly competition, all pies must be made from scratch and the use of local apples is preferred. Pies will be dropped at Cornucopia Wine and Cheese Market, located at 4 Front St., Exeter, by October 19th at 7:00 p.m. All leftover slices of pie will be sold for donation at Swasey Parkway to benefit The Chamber Children’s Fund.

The pie baking contest is just one part of the dynamic Exeter Fall Festival line-up featured this year.

Enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride, stroll through the autumn leaves down crafter ally, or take in some of the scheduled entertainment that will be fun for all ages.

Be sure to bring your little ones as there will be plenty of fun for them at the petting zoo, bouncy house, and pony rides.

The event is free and open to the public. Activities take place from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The day’s events are produced by the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce. To sign up for the Apple Pie contest by the deadline of October 1st, or for additional details, contact the Chamber at 603-772-2411 ext.11, or email krystas@exeterarea.org.
