Carriage Towne News

---- — DERRY —Rhythm of New Hampshire Show Chorus, a charter member of Sweet Adelines International, an a cappella harmony organization for women will host a Summer SINGsation four-week workshop on Thursdays beginning July 18, and running through August 8, from 6:45-8:30 p.m. at its 39 West Broadway, Derry location. No vocal experience is required to attend this free summer program. All voice parts are welcome and the group is hoping to add another ten to twelve singers to their ranks by the end of this program.

“If you’ve thought about singing, like to sing in your car, or have been a member of other vocal groups and want to try something new, this workshop is for you,” says RNH musical director Jessie Oslan. “Any woman of average singing ability can find a part that fits her voice range. We’re planning some fun activities in this summer program and looking forward to ending the event with singing at the NH Fisher Cats baseball game on Sat., August 10 and a Friends and Family Night on Thurs., August 15 at 8:00 p.m. It will be a fun and exciting session and we invite women of all ages and backgrounds - especially those in high school and college - to come experience how much fun we have together.”

“We’re also looking at the changing face of a cappella music and adding in some contemporary arrangements that incorporate vocal percussion, too,” says Renee Fellows, RNH assistant director. Additionally, RNH sings a repertoire of blues, jazz, Broadway and contemporary tunes. “This season we’re working on a medley of Katy Perry’s FireWork, The Black Eyed Pea’s, I Got a Feeling and Christina Agulara’s Amazing,” says Fellows. The group is also starting production on its sixth original stage show entitled, Sound WAVES where a troupe of female naval USO singers finds themselves as assigned as a Signal Corps on a South Pacific island during World War II. The show is scheduled to appear at the Derry Opera House on Sat., November 16.
