'Pirates' at Leddy
EPPING – ”A rollicking band of pirates” are coming to Leddy Center’s new beautiful and fully accessible theater on Ladd’s Lane in Epping, July 10-July 26. Gilbert and Sullivan’s hilarious and most popular musical comedy, The Pirates of Penzance, and all the beautiful music and satire that accompanies this great musical, will be performed on Leddy Center’s new stage at beautiful Verdant Pastures on Ladd’s Lane in Epping, just off Route 27. Leddy Center is celebrating its 35th year of presenting Broadway musicals, straight dramatic plays, and concerts to our greater communities, state, and all of New England. Now, Leddy Center has a fully accessible theater so that it can serve an even greater population.
The Pirates of Penzance is about Frederic, who was apprenticed to a band of pirates when he was a little boy, and whose indentures are just about up because he is nearing his 21st birthday. However, because it is discovered that he was born on February 29 in leap year, he is technically only 5 years old, and will have to rejoin the band of pirates. The fun ensues with pirates, keystone cops, lovely maidens, one of whom is the beautiful Mabel who falls in love with Frederic, a Major General, and Ruth, Frederic’s nursemaid.
This great show stars, Don LaDuke as Frederic, Jessica Squier as Mabel, Mark Tuomanen as the Pirate King, Paul LeFevre as the Major General, and Carol Rodis MacDonald as Ruth, along with a talented bevy of beautiful maidens and a rollicking band of pirates and cops.
The Pirates of Penzance opens July 10 and runs through July 26, with Sunday and Wednesday 2:00 p.m. matinees. Tickets are $18.00,. and can be reserved on line 24/7 at leddycenter.org or by calling or visiting the Leddy box office at 603-679-2781, Monday through Friday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Leddy Center is air-conditioned for your comfort.
