HAMPSTEAD —Summer is really, really here and the Hollyhock Thrift Shop at the Hampstead Public Library has reopened, with a wonderful stock of gently used, good quality clothing for men, women and children. If you need a few “new to you” items for your summer vacation, try shopping the Thrift Shop for the best clothing deals around.
The shop’s hours are Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
A dedicated crew of volunteers from the Friends of the Hampstead Public Library staff the shop. They’re the ones who sort through the bags of clothes donated to the shop and set them out on racks and tables and shelves for your shopping pleasure.
Donations of clean, gently used, good quality clothing may be brought to the library any time it is open. Please don’t overload your bags of donations so they are too heavy for the volunteer staff to handle comfortably.
Proceeds from the Thrift Shop sales are used by the Friends of the Library to provide extras in the library that are not covered by the Town budget. The latest extra that is in the works now is the electronic sign that will soon be seen on the front lawn of the library. It not only will identify the building but also offer rotating information about what’s going on at the library. The library and the Friends of the Library offer many free programs to the community and they will all find a place on the new sign. Watch for it and be sure to check it regularly to see what’s happening at your public library.
