HAMPSTEAD —The winter is retreating and spring is in the air. With that, The Hampstead Garden Club is preparing for a whole new type of plant sale coming in May. But before that much anticipated event, club members will be harvesting healthy, locally grown perennials. With the profits from the sale, the club maintains several major public gardens in town at the library, Ordway Park, Sign Island and the Veteran’s Memorial Gardens at Town Hall. Smaller gardens that are lovingly maintained are at Shop Pond Park, the fire station planter, the police station and the town museum.
If you have interesting plants from your garden that you would like to divide and donate to the plant sale, club members would like to hear from you. Members could divide the plants for you or would gratefully pick up any plant donations you would like to make. Besides all the gardens around town, proceeds also fund holiday decorations and the Gorham Grant to Hampstead schools. Help HGC continue their good deeds by calling with your donations. Call Connie at 329-5047 as soon as possible.
