Democratic Caucus

Carriage Towne News

---- — ATKINSON — The Atkinson Democrats will meet on Sat., February 23, 10:00 a.m., at the Kimball Library, 5 Academy Avenue, Atkinson, to elect town Democratic officers and delegates to the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s 2013 Midterm and 2014 State Convention.

Local Democratic Committee officers and delegates have a vote at the annual conventions, to approve the party platform, and vote on other matters that come before the conventions.

“New Hampshire Democrats are excited about the results of the 2012 elections where responsible leaders were returned to office at all levels of New Hampshire government. Our caucus provides a great opportunity for anyone who wants to be involved in the grassroots style politics that makes New Hampshire special,” said Kay Galloway and Jean Sanders, Atkinson Democratic co-chairs.

There is no cost to attend the caucus, and it is open to all members of the public. Any registered Democrat, regardless of past political experience can run for an officer or delegate position. Atkinson has a total of six delegates; the four officers and two at-large delegates.

“From Concord to Washington, voters spoke loud and clear on November 6 that they want a return to commonsense problem solving that helps working families, grows our economy and helps small businesses,” said Pete McVay. “On the heels of our success in 2012, it is vitally important that we continue to have vibrant and active local committees that work at the grassroots level to advance an agenda that moves New Hampshire forward” added Harlan Cheney.
