Calling All Artists

STRATHAM/GREENLAND - Local artists are invited to submit work for the 9th annual Art of Great Bay Show sponsored by the Great Bay Stewards. This year the show’s theme is art that is inspired by the New England coastal area. The show and sale opens with an artists’ reception on Friday evening of April 4th and continues through April 5th and 6th. The show is held at the Hugh Gregg Coastal Conservation Center located on the grounds of the Great Bay Discovery Center, 89 Depot Road on the Stratham/Greenland town line.

The works can include flora, fauna, landscapes and people. Two dimensional artists may submit two works of approximately 20 x 30 inches (or smaller pieces totaling these dimensions). In addition to traditional art, 3 x 4 foot tabletop displays of fine crafts such as sculpture, glass, pottery, fabric, and jewelry will be included. Artist will receive 70 percent of the proceeds from sales with 30 percent going to the Great Bay Stewards to support the programs at the Discovery Center.

Artists wishing to have works considered for the show, must send two digital photos to art.show@greatbaystewards.org by Saturday, February 1, 2014. If the Art Show Committee accepts the works, a registration form will be sent to the artist. The form along with at $20.00 registration fee must be received by the committee by Monday, February 24, 2014.     Sandown, NH — Jo Ann (Phelps) Hughes of Sandown, New Hampshire passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2014, surrounded by all of her children at home. She was born in Little Bend Kentucky, to Beatrice (Shepherd) Phelps and John (Cat) Phelps in 1934. Jo Ann was predeceased by brothers, Marcus Phelps, Johnny Phelps, Forrest Phelps and sisters, Juanita Phelps, and Jeanette (Phelps) Vincent. She is survived by brother, Donald Quiggins of Georgia; sisters, Geneva (Phelps) Stanley of Kentucky, and Frances (Phelps) Bratcher of Tennessee who had just visited Jo Ann in September of 2013.
