Exeter Hospital was recently recognized for donating 10,100 pounds of surplus medical supplies to IMEC Global Green, a program which works with hospitals and health care providers to help them make responsible use of their unused supplies. IMEC Global Green is able to send supplies from Exeter and other participating hospitals to 42 developing countries around the world.

Four Northern Essex Community College faculty and staff members were recently named recipients of the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) Awards for Excellence, a national honor which recognizes outstanding teachers in the country’s community colleges. Dr. Carolyn Cohen, of Atkinson was among those honored. Dr. Cohen is recognized as an educator who has high standards in the classroom and is committed to helping each student achieve success. Her involvement in the NECC community is exemplary. She chairs the Behavioral Sciences Department. She has served on several committees including Academic Affairs; Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Steering Committee; the Institutional Review Board; and Help for Outcomes Assessment Committee (HOAP). She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UMass-Boston and a PhD in Psychopharmacology from the University of Minnesota.

New Hampshire Business Review hosted its eighth Annual NHBR Outstanding Women in Business Awards reception on February 12 at LaBelle Winery in Amherst. Six winners were honored for their extraordinary accomplishments, proven leadership, mentorship of female colleagues, ability to advocate for women within their workplace and industries, volunteerism, and contributions towards their communities. Justine Vogel, CEO, RiverWoods (Exeter) was among those honored. Vogel was hired for an accounting position at RiverWoods, a nonprofit continuing-care retirement community in Exeter, when it first opened in 1994. She worked her way up the ranks to become its CEO in 2007 when she was just 39 years old. RiverWoods has grown from just one building to a community with three campuses on 200 acres, offering independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing to more than 600 residents. It is the largest taxpayer in the town of Exeter and employs 470 employees about three-quarters of whom are female. For more information, visit

    LAWRENCE — Marie Rose (Robidoux) Audy, passed away at her home surrounded by her family, after suffering a stroke in April. She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Rose A. (Betit) and Alfred Robidoux, originally of Quebec, Canada. She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Armand Joseph Audy, who passed away on June 28, 1976.

  • Francis M. Lurvey, 76

    Bar Harbor, ME — Francis M. Lurvey passed away Sunday, June 22, in Bar Harbor, Maine, after battling cancer. By his side were his sons, Edwin Lurvey and Steven Lurvey and his niece and husband, Debra and Richard Carey, as well as cousin, Marion McDonald. He was the son of Edwin R Lurvey (Bar Harbor) and Delia Amazeen (Dexter). He is survived by five children, a stepson, and their families. His sons, Edwin and wife April, Steven and wife, Pam, David and his daughter, Meghan, as well as his daughters, Lorraine and Ellen and her husband, Paul DiScipio with daughters, Katherine and Julia, and his stepson, Brian Faulkner and wife, Jody with children, Trevor, Rachel, and Keith. He is also survived by his sister, Sheryl, and many nieces and nephews including Frank Lurvey and Elaine Langer. Francis was predeceased by his twin brother, Frank, as well as his brothers, Edwin and Erwin. He was also predeceased by his longtime companion, Brian and Edwin’s mother, Maureen Faulkner and former wife, Roberta Lurvey Gilmore.
